Rotary presents top awards

Cuero Rotary Club held its end-of-the-year social last week announcing three of the club's top award winners.

President Ilene Gohmert presented awards to Will Carbonara, Nancy Blackwell and Bill Blackwell.

The Rotarian of the Year award went to Carbonara. He serves on the club's board of directors and is an active participant in the club's functions.

Carbonara also coordinated the Miss Cuero Pageant for the club.

Cuero Rotary Club's annual Dewey Award was presented to Nancy Blackwell. The award recognizes a person who contributes time and talent to the community.

Mrs. Blackwell has served as a Cuero School District board member for 33 years including holding the position of president. She is also a member and former president of DeWitt County Wildflower Association, Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary, DeWitt-Lavaca Aggie Moms, and Victoria Symphony.

She is a member and former chairman of Christian Education and Elder of First Presbyterian Church and was honored in 2003 with the National Award of Lifetime Membership of the Presbyterian Women.
