Bertha Glover

San Antonio- Bertha Bell Wilson Glover, 104, passed away June 28, 2008 at 9:50 a.m.

Bertha was born to Aaron and Susie Taylor Wilson of Gonzales, on November 27, 1903. She attended Blackjack Rural Community School in Westhoff. She married Emmitt Glover, Sr. on December 24, 1924.
Bertha was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Lockhart Community, Cuero. She worked as church secretary for over 40 years.
Survived by son: Charles Aaron (Marlene) of Cuero; daughter: Jerlean (Collins L.) of San Antonio; grandchildren: Rev. Briscoe Blackwell of San Antonio; Alvina (Tristan) Magor of Dallas, Georgia; Patricia Ann Glover of Arcola, TX; Christine (Harold) Barfield of Cuero; Debora Sue (Roy) Henderson of Manvel, TX; Rev. Terry W. (Lisa) Glover of Cuero; Emmitt Dale Glover of Cuero; Carlos Griffin of Cuero; Briday Harris of Cuero; 21 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, husband, sons: Alvin Glover and Emmitt Glover, Jr.; daughter: Ruby Glover; siblings: Betty, Bertran, Maurice, Frankie, Aaron J. Hue, Nalon Bill, Bernice, T.W. Sr., John Henry, and Hanna Mae Wilson; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
The wake will be held Friday, July 4, in San Antonio from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., D.W. Brooks Funeral Home, 2950 E. Houston St., 210-223-2045. Funeral service will be held in Cuero on Saturday, July 5, at noon at L.E. Meadors Encampment Grounds. Interment will be held at New Hope Cemetery, New Hope Baptist Church, Rev. Samuel A. Jenkins, Cuero.
Viewing of remembrance will take place two hours prior to service time up to the processional. Thereafter, her casket will remain closed for the duration of the service.
