All State, All Area honors for Gobblers

Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association announced its 3A All State Team last week that recognized the efforts of three Cuero High School Gobblers.

Gobbler pitcher Mark Herrera earned All State Second Team honors. A May graduate, Herrera recently accepted a scholarship to attend St. Mary's University in San Antonio.

Gobbler second baseman Chance Harryman also earned All State Second Team honors. Harryman will be a senior at CHS.

Cuero's Tyler Arndt was named All State Second Team in the outfield. He will be a junior at CHS.

Along with earning the District 29-3A championship going 8-0, the team went 33-4-1 for the season advancing to regional semifinals.

Several members of the Gobbler team earned additional honors over the weekend in the Advocate All-Area Baseball Team.

Jennings Boothe was named Player of the Year for his efforts. A junior on the squad, Boothe was District 29-3A co-MVP, was 10-2 on the mound with a 0.97 ERA, 87 innings pitched, with 77 strike-outs. At bat he averaged .454 with 9 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 52 RBI's, 48 runs, and 27 stolen bases.
