City Council urges water reduction

Yorktown City Council met last Monday night. At the beginning of the meeting Yorktown Mayor Rene Hernandez advised that Councilman Manuel Serrano has resigned.
During the meeting Mayor Hernandez voiced his concern of water usage. The city is way over on water consumption. Normal usage runs around 400,000 plus gallons. Usage is now over 600,000 plus gallons. The Council is asking the public for volunteer reduction in water usage. If this does not work, the Council will have to issue a mandatory reduction of water usage.
Council stated that the Street Department has received the new dump truck and is satisfied with it.
Council decided to hold off on accepting the resignation of Vicke Romero as Council member and action on her vacancy. Garcia accepted motion and was seconded by Villa. Motion carried unanimously.
Council approved purchasing “No Fishing From Bridge” signs, as long as they were reasonably priced and price stayed within budget. Garcia accepted the motion and seconded by Villa. Motion carried unanimously.
Proposals for the engineering services for the Tower Rehabilitation project were reviewed. Council awarded the contract to CEC (Civil Engineering Consultants) with the understanding that the engineer be on site at least two days a week until project completed. Motion made by Garcia seconded by Alvarez. Motion carried unanimously.
