Trustees hear YISD TAKS reports

Yorktown Independent School District trustees met recently in the Junior High Library with the following members present: Boyd Weise, Mark Niemeier, Jerry Steves, Nelda Sertuche, Barry Watson, H.R. Krause, Supt. Deborah Kneese.

Motion was made by Barry Watson, seconded by Jerry Steves to approve the Superintendent's recommendation to approve TASB Policy Update 83 as presented including electing the TASB alternate version of Policies DGBA (Local), FNG (Local), and GF (Local). Motion carried 6-0.

Trustees unanimously approved the employee handbook for the coming school year.

Reports on the 2008 TAKS results were heard from Dr. Jose Ramos, Yorktown High School, Sylvia Hernandez, Yorktown Junior High, and Patty Strieber, Yorktown Elementary School.

Trustees also approved the 2008-2009 Region III Education Service Center contract for the the new year.

A budget workshop for the 2008-2009 school year was conducted.

Information learned at the TASB Summer Leadership Institute recently attended by Board members was discussed.
