Get ready for Western Days

Members of the Yorktown Western Days Association and Yorktown Chamber of Commerce are gearing up for the upcoming 2008 Western Days Festival's historical 50th anniversary.
It's time to clean Yorktown and start getting ready to decorate store windows, mow lawns, and pick up trash. Yorktown is a town to be proud of.
The Association notes, Yorktown is known to be a close small community, that help each other. That is why the community needs to pull together and get ready for the historical event celebrating 50 years of Western Days heritage.
Western Days distributors are forecasting 40,000 to 45,000 people for this historical event. Yorktown citizens need to put a helping hand in this event.
Association leaders added, the city has been blessed in years past with regional, state, and national sponsors that have helped us out. It is important that local business continue supporting this event.
Western Days will be three full days of fun for all ages and best of all and admission is free. This year's event features alot of new activities. “Cowpoke Canyon” will be open all three days and nights, which includes, puppet shows, armadillo races, six gun expedition, gun fighter-Wild West Show, trick ropes, pony rides, petting zoo, medicine show, Native American encampment, mechanical bull rides, hot air balloon rides, mutton bustin, a grand parade, largest traveling obstacle course in the United States, 213 foot long and many more events.
Providing music will be Kevin Fowler, DJ Val, Jeff Hobbs and The Jacks, Casey Donahew, Eric Page and Goin South, Texas Ride, Jarod Birmingham, Zona Jones, and Cactus Country. Each evening will be a free dance.
