Robert J. Burda, 83, of Yorktown, where he had been a resident for 22 years, died April 4, 2013.
He was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Houston, to the late Nicholas Joseph and Freda Krebs Burda.
Robert went to St. Thomas High School in Houston and spent two years in the United States Air Force serving in Germany during the Berlin air lift. When he returned, he attended the University of Houston and then graduated from Aeronautical & Engineering School in Tulsa, Okla. He worked as a corporate pilot for Brown & Root and several other companies, and as an aviation mechanic in the Victoria area. Robert loved music and played accordian and piano as a hobby.
Robert is survived by his sister, Rita Anne Collier of Duncanville, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John and Albert Burda.
There will be a rosary at 9:30 a.m. with mass at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown. Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
