Cuero girls win district golf title

The Cuero girls golf team made history on April 9 as they won district title for the first time, ending a 32 year streak over Yoakum’s dominancy. The Lady Gobblers had a 52 stroke lead over Yoakum.
“I really am proud of the girls for fighting off a surge by Yoakum the second day.  They came back from fourt place to take runner up but our girls would not let them take what we wanted.  The girls did great job,” said coach Colin Toot.
Toot said Chelsea Veit, sophomore, played smooth. “She was crushing the ball into that wind. At the turn she probably had the lead but had a couple of bad holes on the back nine that hurt her but she bounced back and finished fourth over all.”
