New gym builder chosen

Yorktown School Board met early last week covering topics from the upcoming election to the second phase of campus improvement projects.
In the public comment portion of the meeting, high school math teacher Barbara Bryand read a statement urging the school board to name a certified administrator-principal for that campus. She said the school “deserves a qualified staff.”
Bryand was referring to a recent report that YHS principal Trey Alexander does not have a valid principal’s certification. Alexander has been principal of the high school for the past four years. He has served as the district’s athletic director since June 2011.
