Over 110 early votes in the YISD election

   There have been about 110 votes cast in early voting for the Saturday, May 11 Yorktown ISD general election. Polls will be open that day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Yorktown High School, 338 W. Main St. in Yorktown.
   Six people have filed for Yorktown ISD school board positions in the election. Two of the three incumbents facing election did not file for re-election. Voters will also be asked to vote to allow the district file as a Chapter 41 district to equalize its tax wealth.
   Three positions on the board will be chosen from the following list of candidates: Jerry Steves, 62, retired teacher, incumbent; Barry M. Watson, 49, chief financial officer; Sarah Hahn, 33, business owner; Patti Harbers, 60, retired teacher; Carole Mueller, 66, substitute bus driver; and Todd Metting, 48, contractor.
