Voters approve school options

   There was a fairly light turn-out for Saturday’s elections in Yorktown and Nordheim.
   Yorktown ISD held elections to name three trustees and two propositions concerning Chapter 41 funding options. Nordheim ISD held an election to authorize a $3.7 million bond issue.
   Six people had filed for three places on the YISD school board. Voters selected Barry M. Watson, Patti Harbers and Todd Metting to be the new trustees.
   Concerning the Chapter 41 special election, the first option was to allow the district to purchase attendance credits from state. 338 voted in favor of this option and 62 voted against the option.
   The second option sought approval to contract to educate nonresident students from a partner district. 291 voted in favor and 105 voted aginst this option.
   Nordheim ISD trustees had put together a bond election to sell $3,750,000 worth of bonds for campus improvements including renovation of classrooms, technology upgrades, new band hall and new multi-purpose room.
This election passed with 75 votes in favor of the the bond issue and 18 against.
