The Cuero Police Department responded to a call regarding a wreck on the 1500 block of North Esplanade at 4:30 p.m. May 20. A maroon 2003 Dodge truck driven by James Nettles, 20, of Livingston, was traveling southbound when the driver lost control and veered into northbound traffic. His vehicle struck a trailer being towed by a 2008 Ford truck driven by William Eggert, 52, of Yoakum. After striking the trailer, Nettle’s vehicle continued southbound in the northbound lane and collided head on with a 2004 Cadillac Escalade driven by Juan Torres Jr., 38, of Cuero. Cuero EMS transported Torres and Nettles to Cuero Community Hospital. Torres was treated and released, Nettle’s condition is not known.
