Kathy Klein said she’s seen angels. Her latest artwork, the 100 Angels Project, is on exhibit at the Yorktown Historical Museum. It is partly inspired by those experiences.
“I was a hostess in a restaurant and got out of work at 2 a.m. or 3 a.m.,” Klein said. “I was taking a shortcut home when my car stalled. My car was blocking the road and I knew I had to get it off the road before someone had come around the corner and hit it by accident but I couldn’t push it. Then this tiny lady drove up. She helped me push the car off the road and took me to my apartment and drove off. I never saw her again.”
This experience, which Klein said took place in Thousand Oaks, Calif. in 1969, inspired two pieces in the collection, Push Angel I, a drawing, and Push Angel II, a small sculpture. In both pieces, an angel is shown helping a woman push a vehicle.
