SEGUIN – Texas Lutheran Bulldog Senior baseball player Jennings Boothe, a 2009 Cuero High School graduate, became the first Bulldog in school history to win the overall NCAA Division III Gold Glove. Boothe won the ABCA/Rawlings award for third base.
“It is good to end a career with a high note,” Boothe said. “I did not know I was the first one until I read the article. I was surprised. Sometimes small town kids get overlooked compared to larger schools. There are a lot of others who were just as good. I could not have asked for anything better.”
The national Gold Glove awards are given to nine players in all of NCAA Division III. Boothe is recognized as the top defensive third baseman in all of NCAA Division III.
