As a member of the Yorktown Historical Society, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to Mayor Hernandez and the Yorktown City Council for agreeing to use hotel/motel tax funds to pay the Yorktown Historical Museum’s electricity bill. I was so delighted to read the “City agrees to museum utility” story last week in our local paper.
The article said: “Yorktown city council conducted its regular meeting on July 8 at the Public Library meeting room. ... The city ... took over paying the electricity bill for the Yorktown Historical Museum. Previously, the Museum was paying 13.5 cents per kilowatt. With the city taking over, the cost of electricity will be reduced to half going through TXU. The city will use the hotel/motel tax that is collected to pay the electric bill.”
Blessings to all,
Bea McKinney, member
