Residents in Cuero School District will have an opportunity to voice their opinion on major improvements to the district at an election Nov. 5.
Trustees agreed last week to call a bond election of close to $76 million. Residents will be asked to vote either ‘for’ or ‘against’ the measure.
If it is approved the money will be used to build two new elementary schools, and make additions and improvements to intermediate, junior and high school campuses. It would also include a fine arts auditorium.
Supt. Jim Haley said if the issue is approved by voters, improvements could begin in 2014 but the payments on the bond debt would not begin until the start of the 2014-15 school year.
