Yorktown ISD trustees agreed to lower the property tax rate and approve a new budget at their meeting Wednesday evening at junior high.

The board agreed to hold the maintenance and operation portion of the tax at same rate it is now however, the rate to retire bond debt will be going down.

The overall rate for the new budget year will be .97212 cents per $100 valuation. That compares to the current rate which is .99720 cents.

In that amount 96 cents will be used for maintenance and operation of the district.
