Katherine W. McChesney, 84, of Cuero, passed away on Thursday,  Sept. 26, 2013.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1929 in Cuero to the late William A. Luddeke and Erna Mueller Luddeke. Katherine was the former co-owner of Oak Memorial Funeral Home in Cuero for many years. She was a past member of the Cuero Pilot Club and a longtime treasurer of the Lindenau Cemetery Association.
Survivors include daughter, Melissa K. McChesney, of Cuero; sons, Paul L. McChesney, Jr., of Lubbock, Gerald McChesney (Rachel), of Austin, Patrick McChesney, of Victoria; grandchildren, Amy Katherine Hays (Nathan), of Lubbock, Vanessa Shirley (Kenneth), of Belton, Paul L. “Andy” McChesney III, of Lubbock, Matthew P. McChesney, Megan L. McChesney and Kelly McChesney all of Austin, Taylor John McChesney of Inez; great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Keegan Hays, of Lubbock; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. McChesney Sr.; sister, Rose Barfield Bridges; brothers, Willard and Edgar Luddeke; and granddaughters, Macy Michelle McChesney,  and Kelly Suzanne McChesney.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at Freund Funeral Home in Cuero. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Lindenau Cemetery with the Rev. William Hill officiating. A reception followed at St. John’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
