Alice Hohn Witte was born Nov. 25, 1916 in Yorktown to Paul Robert and Emily Menn Hohn and passed away Nov. 30, 2013 at the age of 97.
 
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Alice was a graduate of Texas Lutheran College and attended the University of Texas in Austin. Her teaching career began at country schools Prairie Hill, Meyersdale, and  Skidmore, and continued with Beeville, Asherton, Yorktown and Yoakum I.S.D.
 
H.B. (Bo) Witte and Alice were united in marriage on April 30, 1952.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Jane Hohn Weise, brother-in-law, Albert A. Weise, her brothers, Jessie Paul Hohn and Felton Nic Hohn, a nephew, Ralph Weise and one grandson, Frank James Knezek, Jr..
She is survived by Howard Weise of Yorktown, Carolyn Weise Frank and husband Roger of Yoakum, Jo Beth Weise Knezek of Wharton. Granny is also survived by Lori Knezek White and husband Larry of Palisade, Col., Jonathan Hailey of Plano, Lee Knezek and wife Helen of Bay City, Patrick Frank and wife Carrie of Yoakum, Travis Knezek and wife Jenifer of Wharton, Wendy Weise Barefield and husband Jake of Victoria, M'Liss Frank Seltzer and husband David of Southlake, Wade Weise of San Antonio, Ben Weise and wife Phoebe of Seguin and 19 great-grandchildren.
 
Visitation was from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. on  Dec. 3 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home.
 
Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 4 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Meilke officiating. Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers were Dennis Kutach, Claude Jacobs, Edwin Steinmann, Walt Ellis Hairell, Robert  Lange and Scott Witte.
 
The family requests memorials be sent to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
