In the 1850s, immigrants from the European region of Upper Silesia, now in Poland, came to Texas and started many new settlements including Yorktown. To keep the traditions of culture, heritage, memories, and music of Silesia alive in Texas, the Father Leopold Moczygemba Foundation was established. With the help of the foundation, Reverend Monsignor Frank Kurzaj, of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Floresville, coordinated a string quartet called Apotheosis with vocalist Agniezka Hyla to perform a Polish Christmas concert at the Holy Cross Catholic Church on Dec. 11. Shown from the left are: Sara Malinowska - I violin, Karolina Hyla - II violin, Agnieszka Hyla - vocalist, Aleksandra Badura - viola, and Nikol Latocha - cello.
