A new grind for Wildcats football in 2014

 

Yorktown athletic director and head football coach Ty Robinson and assistant coach Justin Havard shook their heads bewildered that Shiner went to play for state championship. They shared words that Yorktown could have played into December as they reflected their game against Shiner at the half with the score 6-7. Coach Robinson really believed they could have gone into the playoffs.
 
“Coming in that summer I saw the kids and the work ethic they had and they were buying in what I had asked them to do,” Robinson said. “I thought there was some physical talent along with the work ethic. I was pretty fired up about it.”
 
Early in the year Yorktown started the season looking pretty good. They beat Sacred Heart 28-22 and when they played against Goliad it was fairly matched up at the half. But as that game came to a close Robinson sensed a change in his team.
