At Oralia's it's like family

 

January 4 marked the 30th anniversary when Oralia Soliz Martinez opened Oralia’s Hair Station on Broadway Street next to the Fire Station in Nordheim. However, Martinez’s customers started long before she ever opened her business in Nordheim.
 
“I started doing hair 40 years ago,” Martinez said. “While going to beauty school, in 1973, I worked on Myrtle Janssen’s hair.”
 
After Martinez graduated from beauty school in 1974 she went to work for Champion’s Beauty Salon in Yorktown. After a few years Martinez decided to venture out and moved to San Marcos in 1977.
 
One day a customer came into the shop she was working at and he said, “What are you doing here?” Martinez replied, “I am working.” It was Nordheim resident Tim Osterloh while he was going to college in San Marcos. To this day he still goes to Martinez to get his hair cut.
