CHS students compete in UIL practice meet

Cuero High School hosted a UIL practice meet Jan. 23. There were 16 schools represented and over 600 entries in the 11 events offered.
Jennifer Sturm placed 6th in accounting; Bradley Wolf placed 4th in 9th grade calculator; Cheyenne Miller placed first and Audrey Simpson placed 3rd in computer applications; William Hogan placed 5th in computer science. The team of Hogan, Sammy Rojas, Sonny Cessor and Chant Parker placed 2nd in computer science.
Rojas placed 2nd in current events. The team of Rojas, Michaela Bateman, Seth Beach and Connor Coppedge placed 2nd in current events.
John Aitkens placed 6th in 12th grade number sense; Hogan placed 3rd in 11th grade number sense; Elias Alcazar placed 5th and Luke Stevenson placed 6th in science; Stevenson placed 4th in 12th grade science; Alcazar placed 2nd in 11th grade science; Stevenson placed 1st and Alcazar placed 3rd in top chemistry; Hogan placed 2nd in top physics. The team of Alcazar, Stevenson, Sonny Cessor and Hogan placed third in science.
“Our students fared well against the competition but they all realized that more work must be done before the district competition in March,” said CHS UIL advisor Linda Coleman.
The next practice meet will be held Thursday in Shiner.
