Yorktown Community Hall, organized in May of 1939 with it’s 45 original members donating a minimum sum of $5 each; has survived the test of time and remains a full service “community” hall. From New Year’s Eve dances to wedding receptions to Yorktown High School Proms, chances are if you lived in Yorktown for any amount of time, you attended an event at this hall.
Shown is the newly re-built dining hall or “mess” hall as the old timers call it. This tremendous project began in the fall of 2012 which included the demolition of the prior hall down to the concrete slab, with only the slab and framework remaining from the prior construction. This rebuilt hall boasts new indoor air conditioned and heated rest rooms, new “open concept” kitchen area, all new tables, and beautiful stained concrete floor.
The new air-conditioning, wiring, and septic system make any event a cool, modern, and smooth-running event. Additionally, a convenient carport has been added to allow cover from the heat and occasional rain showers for the “to go” line for all barbecue fundraisers held at Yorktown Community Hall. Yorktown Community Hall also has the largest indoor barbecue facilities, allowing cooking for an estimated 800 people.
