The Cuero ISD board of trustees met for a special meeting Jan. 29 at the Cuero ISD board room.
The board approved Weavers & Jacobs Constructors as the construction manager at risk for the first part of the $76 million bond project. This followed the recommendation of a 10 person committee consisting of Cuero ISD staff, including supt. James Haley, Mark Iacoponelli, James Coburn, Pam Longbotham, Dwayne Noack and athletic director Travis Reeve.
Three organizations were interviewed for the job but Haley said Weaver & Jacobs Constructors was chosen, “based on their proof and availability of constructing schools in Cuero."
“The size of the organization does not mean they are not capable of providing excellent work,” Haley said. “They are focused on schedule and working on projects when school is in session.”
Representatives from Claycomb Associates, Architects presented renderings of the proposed plans for the high school, junior high school and performing arts center to the board. Representatives from Weaver & Jacobs Constructors also attended the meeting.
