Mrs. Ruth Pauline Wendel Nagel, 93, of Cuero passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014. She was born October 26, 1920 in Meyersville to the late Paul and Elfie Diebel Wendel. Ruth was baptized on January 9, 1921 and confirmed on May 20, 1934. She married the late Leon G. Nagel on December 21, 1941 in Meyersville. Ruth served the church on the altar guild, was a Sunday school teacher, and was the Education and Stewardship chairman.
 
She is survived by her sons, Glen Monroe Nagel and wife, Glenda, of Dallas, Rodney Paul Nagel and wife, Norma, of Austin, and Dennis Henry Nagel and wife, Kay, of Cuero; brothers, Alonzo William Wendel of Schroeder and Cleo Paul Wendel of Cuero; grandchildren, Angela Chambers and Michael Nagel, children of Glen, Kelly Nagel, Shelley Robinson, and Jeffrey Nagel, children of Rodney, and Clay Reed, Chad Reed, and Todd Reed, children of Dennis; and 12 great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband; sister, Ruby Lee Wendel; and brother, Allen Edward Wendel.
 
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014, 2:00 p.m., at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Meyersville with Pastor John Boor officiating. Interment will follow at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers include Kelly Nagel, Michael Nagel, Jeffrey Nagel, David Robinson, Trent Chambers, and Todd Reed with great-grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
