Danette Respondek has filed as a candidate for the position of board of trustee at the Yorktown Independent School District.
Danette is the wife of Joseph Respondek, who has farmed and ranched in DeWitt County all his life. She was raised in Kosciusko and graduated from Poth High School. Danette earned a bachelors of business administration from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1995. She has 15 years of human resource experience in organizations with 600 plus employees. After four years as director of human resources for the City of Victoria, Respondek chose to become a stay-at-home mom to their three young boys.
She is an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown and has served in an officer position for the Yorktown Elementary parent organization, Always Believing in Children, from 2010-2013.
Danette said she has concerns with teacher turnover and the high number of transfers out of Yorktown ISD. These concerns led her to begin to attend Yorktown ISD board meetings in the fall of 2013.
Respondek wants to see quality performance standards set and follow through of accountability for successes and shortcomings. She also feels strongly about the accountability for leadership of Yorktown school and the need for stronger relationships with parents.
She said, “Our kids have one shot for a solid foundation for education that we can build on for a successful future.”
