Early voting ends Tuesday

Filing has ended for city and school elections scheduled for May 10.
 
Early voting and election day voting will be held at DeWitt County Election Administrators office, 115 N. Gonzales, in Cuero.
 
Mail ballot requests began March 26 and continue thru May 1. 
 
Early voting by personal appearance began April 28 and continues thru May 6. Early voting in person polls will be open 8 to 5  from April 30 through May 6. 
 
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10.
 
Voters are reminded to have a proof of identification to cast a vote in early elections in person.
 
The following are the candidates and positions they are seeking.
 
Cuero City Council
 
Three places on the council will face election in May.
 
The candidates are: mayor - incumbent Sara Post Meyer and challenger Russell Williams.
 
District 2 - incumbent Doyle Cruz and challengers Terry Glover and David Ruiz.
 
District 3 - incumbent Brad Hedrick is unopposed.
 
There are also 13 proposed amendments to the City of Cuero charter that registered voters will be deciding at this year’s election. Those proposed amendments are listed in the “Legals” of today’s edition of The Cuero Record.
 
Cuero Medical District
 
Board member Cindy Sheppard was appointed to fill a vacancy on the board and filed for election to that seat. She is unopposed and there will be sworn-in for a three-year term at the May meeting.
 
Cuero ISD Trustees
 
Two seats on the board of trustees will face election in May. 
 
The candidates are: District 3 - Beverly ‘Blanch’ Kuecker. Incumbent Polly Laging did not file.
 
District 4 - incumbent Pat Koranek and challenger Courtney Toller Moore.
