Families ask county for help with Lockhart Cemetery

Several people representing Lockhart Cemetery attended Monday’s DeWitt County Commissioners Court meeting to ask for help in cleaning the cemetery.
 
The court also reviewed drought conditions but took no action to call for a rural burn ban.
 
Rev. George McNary said the historic Lockhart Cemetery, located off  Gonzales Highway between Cuero and Yoakum, was established in 1910 and is in need of substantial clean-up and brush removal.
 
He asked if the county could provide some help in that effort whether it is from jail inmates or precinct employees.
