Girls Allstar softball team finishes season

 

The Yorktown/Goliad 9-10 year old Girls Allstar softball team participated in the Section IV Round of the East Texas Little League Tournament held in Needville on July 11-15.
 
In their first game, the Allstars played El Campo and came away on the short end of the scoreboard by a 17-4 score.  Hitting stars were Jayden Moore, 1 single;  Kailey Sinast, 2 singles;  Seely Metting, 1 double; and Danielle Wilson, 1 single.  Scoring runs were Moore, Sinast, Metting and Brittan Allman.  Moore and Sinast did the pitching for the Allstars.
 
In their next game, the Allstars played Seguin and again were on the short end by a 12-0 score.  The Seguin pitcher threw a no-hitter and allowed only 2 baserunners.  Moore walked and Savannah Giles was hit by a pitch.  Pitching for the Allstars were Moore and Sinast.  Wilson made a running catch in left field to keep Seguin from scoring more.
 
Team members from Goliad were Jayden Moore - pitcher, Hannah Merklinger and Makhaiyla Pinson - outfielders.
 
Team members from Yorktown were Brittan Allman, Caylen Boehm, Kailey Sinast and Savannah Giles - infielders;  Seely Metting - catcher;  Heavenleigh Enriquez, Jessica Knetig and Danielle Wilson - outfielders.
 
The District 27 Champion Allstars were managed by Darryl Borth.  Coaches were David Giles and Kevin Wilson.
