County granted just $4.9M for road work

 

There was a sort-of collective sigh of relief heard in Texas less than a month ago. 
 
Not a lot was said about it but it did have an impact of about $224 million.
 
DeWitt County judge Daryl Fowler and commissioners court led the charge into Austin asking the 83rd Legislature to give some of Texas’ ‘rainy day fund’ to counties impacted by Eagle Ford Shale oil discovery.
 
That request was granted to the tune of $224,500,000. However, counties had to prove they were impacted by the shale oil discovery.
