Business owners asked to help keep city clean

According to City of Cuero building official Robert Stoddard, business owners are asked to make sure the trash on their property is picked up.
“If a customer walks outside with a bag and throws the bag on the ground, once the bag is on the ground, it becomes the responsibility of the business,” Stoddard said.
Trash is a problem, Stoddard said, because it blows into the streets and onto other properties.
“A recent example — we found trash from a restaurant blow four blocks away onto someone’s yard,” Stoddard said. “We want [business owners] to work with the city to create a cleaner Cuero.”
The city offers several methods of collection services. For more info, contact environmental waste superintendent Cheryl Merzbacher at 361-275-6266.
