JV boys place 3rd in Gonzales

 

The Cuero cross country team had their first competition at the Gonzales Relays on Aug. 23 against 28 teams with favorable results.
 
Cuero cross country coach Roberto Granados said, “Our Gobblers ran great but they still have lots of room for improvement. We will work hard to get better and be ready for our tough district.”
 
The varsity runners were divided into groups of three to run a six mile relay. Each runner had a two mile run. The first team consisted of Jocee Bennett, Dixie Blackwell, and Alexandra Villafranca. They came in 7th place with a time of 37.23.
The second team consisted of Dana Mican, Audrey Moreno, and a runner from Gonzales. They placed 27th with a time of 43.44.
 
The junior varsity boys ran a three mile relay against 12 teams. The JV team was Tom Vandeveer, Ben Villarreal, and a runner from Floresville. They placed 3rd with a time of 17.18.
