I review with satisfaction our accomplishments. Yorktown High School’s state accountability report for the 2014-2015 school year will not be out until the fall semester. I can anticipate for you the high school will receive distinction designations for our passing rates in four STAAR end-of-course tested subjects: U.S. History, taught by Shirley Moczygemba, 100%; Biology, taught by Dustin Nessel, 95%; Algebra 1, taught by Barbara Bryand, 87%; and English 1, taught by Lara Robinson, 86%. In addition, English 2, taught by Lara Robinson, had 81% passing.
The ACT was administered this fall to all thirty one juniors. Previously, students had to travel to Victoria College or Coastal Bend College in Beeville to take the ACT. It took some doing but we received approval to administer the test at the high school.
