Sleek-Gips announce engagement

Kelly Sleek and Jim Sleek of Fremont, Ohio, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Amber Kay Sleek of Helena, Ohio, to Brett Layne Gips of Yorktown, son of Dawn and Greg Gips of Wimberley, Texas. Amber is a 2007 graduate of Gibsonburg High School in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and a 2011 graduate of the University of Arizona, where she received her bachelor’s degree in journalism. Amber is employed by Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and is the assistant director of athletics media relations. Brett is a 2005 graduate of Yorktown High School and a 2010 graduate of Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where he received his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. Brett is also employed by Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and is the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the Texas A&M–Corpus Christi baseball team. The couple will marry at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown on Aug. 16, 2014. The couple is planning a honeymoon for next summer.

Caka – Coleman

Mr. and Mrs. James Caka of Yoakum are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Ashlee Beth Caka to Calan Hugh Myrl Coleman, son of Ms. Marilyn Cheatham of Cuero. Ashlee is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pekar of Yoakum and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Caka of Shiner. Calan is the grandson of the late Mr. Wiley Cheatham and the late Ms. Rosemary Cheatham. The bride-to-be is a 2013 graduate of Texas A&M–Corpus Christi with a bachelor’s of science degree in interdisciplinary studies. She is employed as a first grade teacher with Alice ISD. The groom-to-be is a senior at Texas A&M—Kingsville where he will receive a bachelor’s of science degree in wildlife biology. He is employed at the Rancho de las Palmas as a ranch hand/hunting guide. Fair graduates from basic training

 

Air Force Airman Raymond L. Fair graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland at San Antonio.
 
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
 
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
 
Fair is the son of Claybril V. and step-son of Veronica Fair of Victoria and Amanda Fair of Cuero, and grandson of Wanda Garza of Victoria, Esther Fair of Goliad and Joe A. Navarro of Cuero.
 
He is a 2012 graduate of Cuero High School.

Ralston graduates from Baylor

 

WACO — Baylor University conferred degrees on more than 2,300 graduates during spring commencement exercises May 16-17 in the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus. 
 
Cameron Scott Ralston of Cuero obtained a master of science degree in information systems.

Gamez graduates from Texas A&M

Nicholas Jay Quinterro Gamez, a 2010 Cuero High School graduate, received his degree at the commencement ceremony held at Texas A&M University on May 10. Nicholas received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in mathematics and physics. Quinterro is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Brysch graduates from Texas State

On Saturday, May 10, 2014, Casey Leanne Brysch, was honored as she participated in the Texas State University Commencement Exercises held at Strahan Coliseum in San Marcos.  Casey was proud to receive her Bachelor of Healthcare Administration Degree. Special guests on hand to celebrate with Casey and watch her cross the stage included her parents, Darrell and Lana Brysch; her siblings, Corey and Brittany Brysch, Carey Dugie and Caley Brysch; her nephew, Carter Brysch, and niece, Emerie Dugie; and grandmother Dorothy Brysch. Cousins, Walter and Dorine Leister, and family friends, Chris Mann and Rachel Black, were also in attendance to congratulate Casey for her accomplishments. After the ceremony, the group enjoyed dinner at Schobels Restaurant on the River in New Braunfels, where Casey was joined by Uncle Dale Borgfeld and cousin, Candice Borgfeld.  Casey opened gifts and thanked her family and friends for supporting her throughout her education.

Emerie Anne Dugie announcement

Ted and Carey Dugie of Corpus Christi are proud to announce the arrival of their precious daughter born on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Emerie Anne Dugie was delivered at Bay Area Hospital in Corpus Christi by Dr. Christine Canterbury at 2:50 p.m. Emerie tipped the scales at 5 lbs. 7 oz. and measured 17 inches in length.  The hospital was crowded with people anxious to get a peek at the new little bundle.  Excited to be first-time grandparents are Grandpa and G-Ma, also known as Mark and Diana Dugie of Yorktown, who will share Baby Emerie with PaPa and Granna, Darrell and Lana Brysch, also of Yorktown.  Grandpa Dugie was extra happy about Emerie’s birth, because she arrived on his birthday! Since the best sisters get promoted to Aunt, Emerie will be spoiled by her Daddy’s sister, Aunt Katie, her Mommy’s sisters, Aunt Casey and Aunt Caley, and sister-in-law, Aunt Brittany, as well as Mommy’s brother, Uncle Corey, and brother-in-law, Uncle Aaron.

Ballard-Janacek engagement

Tray and Lori Ballard are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Adrianne Ballard of Victoria, to Joseph Janacek, son of Paul and Mary Ann Janacek of Victoria. Adrianne is the granddaughter of Marvin and Lucille Huse and Ken and Pat Ballard of Victoria.  Joseph is the grandson of John and Mary Ann Janacek of Yorktown and the late Bohumil Sr. and Cecilia Vrana of Victoria. The couple will marry in June at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Victoria. Adrianne is a 2008 graduate of Victoria Memorial High School and a 2012 graduate of University of Houston-Victoria with a bachelor's degree in teaching.  She is presently employed by Victoria ISD as a 4th grade teacher at Chandler Elementary School. Brylee Jo Dlugosch born March 31

Brian and Denise Dlugosch of Yorktown are proud to announce the birth of their second daughter, Brylee Jo Dlugosch. She was born at 12:34 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at DeTar Women’s Center in Victoria. She weighed seven pounds, 11 ounces and was 19 and a half inches long. She is being welcomed by big sister Bentlee Rae. Maternal grandparents are Charles and Shirley Degenhardt of Manhattan, Kan. Maternal great-grandparents are Mary Moege and the late Wilbur Moege of Alma, Kan., and the late Leo and Mildred Degenhardt of Alma, Kan. Paternal grandparents are Pete and Patricia Dlugosch of Yorktown. Paternal great-grandparents are Marvin and Mary Kunschik of Gillett, and the late Phillip and Lorene Dlugosch of Cuero.
