Olivia Nicole Austin

Marissa and Brandon Austin of Austin, Texas announce the arrival of their daughter, Olivia Nicole Austin. Olivia was born at Seton Southwest in Austin on June 16, 2014, and weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces. Olivia’s grandparents are Marsha Mueller Moore and the late Billy G. Moore of San Marcos, and the late Jack and Judy Austin of Dallas. Great-grandparents include Gladys Mueller and the late Carlton H. Mueller of Yorktown, Jack and Maurice Austin of Meadowlakes, and Faye Alder of Colorado Springs, Colo. Olivia is welcomed by aunts and uncles Tina and Matthew Rottman of San Antonio, Amber and David Chupp of Kerrville, and aunt Michal Moore and fiancé Bill Waechter  of San Antonio.  She is also welcomed by great uncles Michael Moore of San Antonio, Charles Mueller of Katy and great aunt and uncle Renee and Phil Mueller of Yorktown and numerous cousins. Emilee Rae Friesenhahn

Charlie and Tara Friesenhahn of Yorktown are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Emilee Rae Friesenhahn, on July 17, 2014 at 7:31 p.m. at DeTar Women and Children’s Hospital.  Emilee Rae tipped the scale at 5 pounds, 10 ounces and measured 18.5 inches in length. Proud grandparents are Thomas and Bonnie Stepanski of Yorktown, Frank and Shari Gerking of Seadrift, and Carl and Cindy Friesenhahn of San Antonio. Great-grandparents are Ed and Betty Mann of Yorktown and the late Gloria Mann;  Irene Stepanski of Yorktown and the late Paul Stepanski;  Arlin and Gilda Rogge of Runge;  and Francis Friesenhahn and the late Ray Friesenhahn of Adkins. Weise reunion held July 6

 

Descendants of Paul Weise held their annual family reunion at the American Legion Hall in Yorktown on Sunday, July 6.
The reunion was hosted this years by descendants of the Eddie Weise family. A delicious potluck meal was enjoyed by all. Door prizes were awarded along with several games of bingo. The silent auction was a huge success.
 
Thanks to each and everyone for all the wonderful food, auction items and for making this year’s reunion at huge success. Also, thanks to everyone bidding and purchasing auction items.
 
The reunion will be hosted next year by descendants of the Clara Geffert family.

Ellie Kay Larabee

Brittany and Stephen Larabee of Jacksonville, NC announce the arrival of Ellie Kay.  Ellie was born on June 21, 2014 and weighed 7 pound, 12 ounces. Ellie’s grandparents are Diana Mendez and Robert Mendez of Yorktown and Karen and Rick Weirough of Allen.  Great-grandparents include Ynocencio and Carmen Garcia and Aurelia Alvarez of Yorktown,  Larry and Mary Lammey of Grapevine and Bill and Bernice Weirough of Aurora, Colo. Sleek-Gips announce engagement

Kelly Sleek and Jim Sleek of Fremont, Ohio, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Amber Kay Sleek of Helena, Ohio, to Brett Layne Gips of Yorktown, son of Dawn and Greg Gips of Wimberley, Texas. Amber is a 2007 graduate of Gibsonburg High School in Gibsonburg, Ohio, and a 2011 graduate of the University of Arizona, where she received her bachelor’s degree in journalism. Amber is employed by Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and is the assistant director of athletics media relations. Brett is a 2005 graduate of Yorktown High School and a 2010 graduate of Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where he received his bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology. Brett is also employed by Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi and is the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator for the Texas A&M–Corpus Christi baseball team. The couple will marry at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Yorktown on Aug. 16, 2014. The couple is planning a honeymoon for next summer.

Mr. and Mrs. James Caka of Yoakum are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Ashlee Beth Caka to Calan Hugh Myrl Coleman, son of Ms. Marilyn Cheatham of Cuero. Ashlee is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Pekar of Yoakum and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Caka of Shiner. Calan is the grandson of the late Mr. Wiley Cheatham and the late Ms. Rosemary Cheatham. The bride-to-be is a 2013 graduate of Texas A&M–Corpus Christi with a bachelor’s of science degree in interdisciplinary studies. She is employed as a first grade teacher with Alice ISD. The groom-to-be is a senior at Texas A&M—Kingsville where he will receive a bachelor’s of science degree in wildlife biology. He is employed at the Rancho de las Palmas as a ranch hand/hunting guide. Fair graduates from basic training

 

Air Force Airman Raymond L. Fair graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio–Lackland at San Antonio.
 
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
 
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
 
Fair is the son of Claybril V. and step-son of Veronica Fair of Victoria and Amanda Fair of Cuero, and grandson of Wanda Garza of Victoria, Esther Fair of Goliad and Joe A. Navarro of Cuero.
 
He is a 2012 graduate of Cuero High School.

Ralston graduates from Baylor

 

WACO — Baylor University conferred degrees on more than 2,300 graduates during spring commencement exercises May 16-17 in the Ferrell Center on the Baylor campus. 
 
Cameron Scott Ralston of Cuero obtained a master of science degree in information systems.
