Weise celebrates 99th birthday with family

Matilda Weise celebrated her 99th birthday Sept. 14 at the Hermann Sons Lodge in Weesatche. She was born Sept. 17, 1914. Matilda has 127 family members and most of them were in attendance for the celebration. Guests included her 12 children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, and other friends.

Leske, Toliusis married July 6

 

Patricia Anne Leske of Austin, daughter of Bob and Kathleen Leske of Cuero, married Matthew William Toliusis of Austin, son of Vete and Linda Toliusis of Paw Paw, Mich.
 
The couple was married July 6, 2013 at Mercury Hall in Austin. Christopher Chow officiated the outdoor ceremony.

Matejek family celebrates reunion

 

The 34th Matejek Family Reunion was held Oc. 27 at the Yorktown Fire Department meeting room in Yorktown.
 
The blessing for the noon meal was led by Hayden Leist and Margaret Matejek. A variety of delicious foods and desserts were enjoyed by all attending the reunion.
A short time later the business meeting was held with a time of silence observed to remember those who have passed on since last year’s reunion, Mary A. Baker of Gonzales and Leona Janysek of Panna Maria.
 
It was decided to have the next  reunion on Oct. 26, 2014 at the Yorktown Fire Department meeting room in Yorktown. This will be the 35th Reunion, so that means “The Money Tree” will make an appearance.

Vallez, Maldonado announce engagement

Raul Vallez and Yolanda and Alfredo Muniz of San Antonio announce the engagment of their daughter, Regina Vallez, of San Antonio to Rene R. Maldonado of San Antonio, son of Raymond and Oralia Maldonado of Cuero. The couple plans to marry Saturday, Nov. 9 in San Antonio, where the couple reside.

Isaac J. Imes

 

Isaac J. Imes, 2012 Honor Student graduate of Yorktown High School and son of Philip and Connie Imes of Yorktown, completed Recruit Training from the U.S. Navy on Friday, Oct. in Great Lakes, Ill.  In an impressive ceremony, a total of over 800 new recruits completed their PIR training with Isaac.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Schendel of Runge are happy to announce the engagement of their daughter, Erin Schendel, of San Antonio, to Tim Boeder, also of San Antonio. 
 
Erin is the granddaughter of Ann Wagener of Nixon, the late W. L. “Bill” Wagener, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schendel. Tim is the son of Candyce Holmes of Seguin, the grandson of Kathleen Boeder, also of Seguin, and the late Donald Boeder.

Landon Darrell Parker

Landon Darrell Parker, son of Denise Migura Parker and the late Darrell Migura of La Vernia graduated on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 from Texas A&M University in College Station. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in telecommunications media studies. Landon is the grandson of Connie and the late O.T. Migura of Yorktown, and Frances and the late Frank Heritage of Sutherland Springs. In addition to his mother and grandmothers, those in attendance were Logan Parker, Evelyn Pieprzyca, Marvin and Cheri Migura, Darlene Migura, and Jennifer Snyder and son, Fate.

Haun graduates Middlebury College

Abby Haun, daughter of Keith and Kathy Haun of Houston, graduated in August from Middlebury College, receiving her master of arts degree summa cum laude in Spanish, with specialization in language and linguistics. The masters program included courses in Middlebury, Madrid, and Buenos Aires. Abby received her bachelor of arts degree magna cum laude in communications and Spanish in May 2009 from the University of St. Thomas in Houston. She resides in Bogota. Abby is the granddaughter of Floyd Haun of Yorktown.

Eli William Roeder

 

Debbie and Don Roeder of Yorktown announce the arrival of their son, Eli William Roeder, born on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at 7:54 a.m. at DeTar Hospital North in Victoria. He weighed 7 pounds and measured 21 inches in length at birth.
 
Welcoming him home is a sister, Kaitlyn Leigh Roeder, and brother, Carter Jackson Roeder.
 
Grandparents are Roman and Virgie Drabek of Schulenburg, and Eddie and Donna Roeder of Yorktown. Great-grandmother is Helen Crocker of Yorktown.
