Santos Sandoval celebrates 100 years

A birthday party for Santos Sandoval was held Sept. 10 at Yorktown Nursing and Rehab Center. Sandoval celebrated turning 100 years old. He was born Sept. 10, 1913 in Garfield. A cake was made for the event by Sara Munoz. Local musicians Arturo Mata and Guadalupe Garcia performed some of Sandoval’s favorite music at the event. Sandoval joined the musicians on the violin. His cousin, Elida Vela de Vom Baur, visited from Salt Lake City to attend the event.

Korbin Dale Kerlick

Kyle and Krista Kerlick of Yorktown announce the birth of their son Korbin Dale Kerlick. Korbin arrived at 8 a.m. on Friday Aug. 16, 2013 at Citizens Hospital in Victoria.  He weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces and measured 20 1/2 inches in length. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Hilbrich and Clark Kerlick and the late Lori Kerlick of Yorktown. Great grandparents are Mr. and Mrs Byron Cramer and Mary Hilbrich of Yorktown and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Treybig of Port Lavaca.

Stephanie and John Dugan of San Angelo are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Jillian Bree Dugan of San Angelo to Harold Rutledge High III of Gonzales, son of Karen and Harold Rutledge (Ace) High II of Cuero. The couple will exchange vows Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Chapel in the Vineyard in Christoval, Texas.

Cromwell, Sheppard married Aug. 10

 

Sarah Hale Cromwell and Avery Nicholas Sheppard were joined in holy matrimony at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Austin. The Rev. Morgan Allen officiated with assistance from Father David Berger. 
 
Sarah is the daughter of Mac and William Cromwell of Austin, and the granddaughter of Mrs. William Holt Duncan of Columbia, S.C., the late Mr. William Holt Duncan, and the late William Oliver Cromwell II and Sarah Hale Cromwell. 
 
Avery is the son of Cindy and Michael Sheppard of Cuero and the grandson of Lois and Phil Truax of Fort Worth, Frank Sheppard of Cuero, and the late Rosemary Sheppard. A reception followed at Tarry House.

Anderson, Haun married June 23

 

deAnna Anderson and Steven Carl Haun  of Dallas were married at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the Haun residence in Dallas. Will Amason officiated the double ring ceremony.
 
deAnna was given in marriage by her parents, Jimmy and Jimmie Joyce Anderson of Dallas. She wore a floor length strapless ivory stain dress with tulle overlay. She carried a bouquet of hydrangeas and orchids.

Shannon Janae Haun, daughter of Bryan and Gina Haun, graduated in August with her master of science in social work from the University of Texas in Austin. She received her bachelor of social work from the University of Texas in Austin with high honors in May 2012.

Flores graduates Texas A&M–Corpus Christi

 

Dakota Brooke Flores of Cuero received her bachelor of science in nursing degree from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi.
 
The summer commencement ceremony was held Aug. 10.
 
Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi awards bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from the colleges of business, education, liberal arts, nursing and health sciences, and science and technology. Texas A&M–Corpus Christi, the only university in the United States located on its own island, is a member of the Texas A&M University system.
