Cuero team wins Catholic Knowledge Bowl

 

The seventh annual Catholic Knowledge Bowl was held at Our Lady of Victoria Catholic Church in Victoria on March 30.
 
Three rounds of 40 questions were held. Questions were based on occurrences and teachings of the Catholic faith.
 
Four parishioners of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cuero formed a team to compete in the bowl. The team, called “Explorers on the Journey,” included Viriginia Ruschhaupt, Dianne Cowey, Margaret Dixon and Pat Koranek. The team missed only 11 questions for a score of 109 and the first place result.

500 children participate in city egg hunt

The City of Cuero sponsored the 15th annual Easter egg hunt April 19 at the Cuero Municipal Park Knoll on Leonard Ray Harmon Drive. The event began at 10:30 a.m. with games, pony rides and face painting. Children also took photos with the Easter bunny under the gazebo. The Easter egg hunt began at 11:30 a.m. City representatives estimate about 500 children attended the event. Cuero Record photo.

47 flower baskets made to hang downtown

 

Spring has finally sprung in Cuero and the Cuero Main Street program is once again working to help beautify the downtown area 47 hanging flower baskets. This year the baskets will be filled with different varieties of Bougainvillea, Verbena, Lantana and Portulaca in shades of pinks, yellows, purples and reds and all purchased locally from Ful-O-Pep Ranch & Garden Center. 
 
The annual project is under the guidance of the Organization Committee of the Main Street Advisory Board. The committee is continuing the partnership with the Cuero High School FFA Floral Design students to do the planting of all the baskets under the direction of Robyn Hermes, FFA Ag teacher.

CCH will offer health screenings April 24

Cuero Community Hospital will sponsor health screenings at the CCH Education Room at 2550 N. Esplanade from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24.
 
A basic screen package is offered for $160. The package includes the following screens: blood pressure and heart rate, body mass index, lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, glucose, PSA for men), carotid artery, abdominal aortic aneurysm, bone density/osteoporosis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function test, and a self-assessment for sleep study center.
 
The premium screens package includes all screens from the basic screens package and a CT coronary calcification screen with a full study report. The cost for the premium screens package is $310.
