Abelardo "Lalo" Cisneros

Abelardo "Lalo" Cisneros, 96, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. He was born May 11, 1919 in Cuero to the late Francisco and Eloisa Cisneros. 
He is survived by sisters, Felipa C. Garcia of Cuero, Maria C. Morales of Houston; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Hortenica Herrera, Eloisa Cavazos, Ofelia Canales, Orfelina Mungia; brothers, George Cisneros, Jose Cisneros, Francisco Cisneros, and Rudolpho Cisneros. 
Visitation will be held at Freund Funeral Home on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. with a Rosary to begin at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Guadlupe Church on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10 a.m. with Father David Berger officiating. Interment will follow at San Luis Cemetery in Yorktown.

Lillie Marie Seifert Urban

Lillie Marie Seifert Urban passed away on July 17, 2015, at the age of 94.  She was born July 15, 1921 in Old Davy, just west of Yorktown, Texas to Edward and Hulda Buske Seifert. Lillie married William Gus Urban on December 24, 1945, and they celebrated 69 years together.
Lillie grew up on the family farm in Davy, working the land alongside her parents and siblings. She attended rural school in Davy and told humorous stories of rides to school with all four children on one horse. She learned many lifelong skills on the farm and was a professional seamstress and gifted gardener. In later years, she converted her greenhouse to a workshop and built elaborate birdhouses.

Lucia Garcia

Lucia Orosco Garcia, 81, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015. She was born March 2, 1934 in Yorktown to the late Felix Orosco and Concepcion Banda Orosco. She married the love of her life, Felipe V. Garcia, Jr., on September 13, 1948. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking and always cherishing time spent with family and friends. 
 
She is survived by her beloved husband; daughters, Yolanda Blaskowski (Henry) of Mosinee, Wisconsin, Janie Garcia of Plover, Wisconsin, Adela Torres of Cuero; sons, Albert Garcia (Olga) of Cuero, Gilbert Garcia (Kecia) of Victoria; sisters, Criselda Tijerina of Levelland, Enriquetta Orosco of Coachela, California, Gloria Orosco of Coachella, California, Ofelia Davila of Levelland, Carolina Cruz of Meadow; seventeen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eginia Lopez; brothers, Guadalupe Orosco and Felix Orosco.

Willis Walters

Willis Walters, 66, of Cuero, passed away July 6, 2015. He was born June 8, 1949, in Cuero to the late Otis and Bernice Braun Walters.  

Willis was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Quin Otis Walters.

He is survived by his sister-in-law, Fay Nell Walters; nieces and nephews, Steven Walters (Joy), Michele McGee (Kenney), Julie Nelson (Danny) and Lorie Walters; great nieces and nephews, Ashley McGee, Brandon Nelson, Joshua Garza and Zachary Nelson.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m., Sunday, July 12 at Finch Funeral Chapel. Graveside service is 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 13 at Westside Cemetery with pastor William Spreen officiating.

Olee Washington Sr.

 

Olee Washington Sr. passed away on July 12, 2015 in Houston from cancer at the age of 74.
 
Olee was born in Dewitt County to Matt Washington & Gertrude Stewart Washington. Olee moved to Houston at an early age and was married to Katie Whittington Washington and had two children, Ondre Washington and Olee Washington Jr. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Clara Taylor, Willie Mae Allen, Ernestine Battles, Gladys Washington and stepson Sammy. He leaves to morn his wife Geraldine Washington (Joshlyn), sons Ondre Washington of Houston, Olee Washington Sr of Dallas, sisters Eloise Dailey of Cuero, Mattie Washington McGilbray of Houston, brother Brewster Washington of Cuero and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services pending in Houston.

Constance Karen Hunter Juvan-Savoy

Constance Karen Hunter Juvan-Savoy passed away on June 20, 2015 in Houston, Texas.

Connie, a proud 5th generation Texan, was born on October 16, 1945 in Austin, Texas to Everett D. Hunter and Marguerite Lily (Savoy) Hunter.  Connie is the granddaughter of the late Hardy Lee Hunter and Gillie Amanda (Griffin) Hunter who were early settlers in the DeWitt County area.  Connie was the Valedictorian of her High School and attended college in San Francisco, California and San Antonio, Texas, where she earned her degree in creative writing.
