Janet E. Herring

Janet E. Herring passed away January 11, 2015 after a long battle with cancer.
 
Janet Elaine was born February 11, 1944 in Yorktown, Texas to the late Ferd and Linda Boldt Geffert. She was welcomed by her sisters Katherine and Doris, and her grandparents Annie Metting Geffert and Eddie and Amalie Goehring Boldt.
Janet spent her younger life attending Yorktown schools and was active in activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church. After graduating from YHS in 1962, she married Ronald L. Pippitt of Dodge City, KS. He very unexpectedly died in August 1972.
 
In June of 1976 she married Robert W. Herring. They remained married until his death in 2012.

Jan B. McElhaney

 

Jan B. McElhaney, age 80, of Floresville, Texas passed away on January 5, 2015. 
 
Jan was born on August 27, 1934 in Dallas, Texas to O.W. and Violet (Griffith) McElhaney. 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents. Jan honorably served in the United States Navy and is a veteran of the Korean conflict. 
 
He is survived by his wife Marty McElhaney; children, Raynel Maguire, Jim Ross McElhaney, Clifton McElhaney, Jodi Campbell and husband Cledel; step children, Erin Bolen and husband Mark, Sean See and wife Tracy; numerous grandchildren and many friends, including special friends Bobby and Nese Watkins.

Harold William Goebel

Harold William Goebel, 83, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015. He was born July 10, 1931 to Luella Hans Goebel and William H. Goebel. Harold married Katherine M. Koenig on October 15, 1950 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cuero. 
 
Harold was a farmer and rancher, and owned/operated his dairy with his son, Johnny Goebel. He loved caring for his animals and was voted Outstanding Young Farmer of America. He tended a peach orchard for many years. He was also a director for Farm Bureau, and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and Green DeWitt Community Club. Harold enjoyed spending time with family and loved caring for his children and grandchildren.

Edna Mae Davis Alexander

Edna Mae Davis Alexander, 86 of Yorktown, was called home on Jan. 4, 2015. She was born May 31, 1928 in Lockhart, TX to the late Tom and Ruby Davis. She was raised in the Lockhart area and attended schools in Litton and Rogers Ranch. She married the love of her life Milburn Alexander on Nov. 28, 1945. She was a devout Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Yorktown for over 60 years. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Edna and Milburn were blessed with two sons Michael L (Mary “Kitty”) Alexander of Yorktown, and David W (Kathy) Alexander of Victoria.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, daughter in laws Kitty Alexander of Yorktown, Kathy Alexander of Victoria, grandchildren Corina (Gregory) Turner, Stephanie Williams, Clayton(Stacey) Alexander, great grandchildren Ashton Williams, Devyn and Hailey Turner, Evan and Ian Alexander, sisters Jean Jones of Azel, TX, Lavada Smith of Decatur, TX.
