Gil R. Sixtos

 

   Gil R. Sixtos, 74, of Yorktown, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, in Cuero. 
   He was born Sept. 1, 1938 in Panna Maria to the late Leo and Tomasa Mejia Sixtos. He was a Catholic and had retired from the City of Yorktown.
   Gil is survived by his brother, Demitrio Sixtos; sisters, Lucia Rodriguez of La Mesa, Elva Quesada of Brownfield, Dominga Garcia of Hereford, and Manuela Garcia of El Campo; and many nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Alfred, Victor and Mike Sixtos.
   Visitation will be 1-7 p.m. July 25 at Finch Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, July 26 at San Luis Catholic Cemetery.

George McGovern

 

   George McGovern of Yorktown died on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. 
   A beloved friend and plumber, he went home to Jesus to join his wife, Marianne McGovern.
George was known for his kind-hearted benovolence and his cowboy sombero-style hat coined, “The McGovern” by his good friends at Apple Lumber.
   He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Viola and Pauline, and his brother, Hugh.
   George is survived by his sisters, Evelyn, Grace, Amy, Martha, and Anne; and brother, Henry.
   Uncle George will be greatly missed by his extended family: the Browns, the Augstustines, and the Wewes.
   A memorial mass is to be announced.
