Seventh grade teams play Yoakum

 

The seventh grade Gobblers White and Green teams played Yoakum Nov. 18. The white team lost 13–18 and the Green team tied 23–23.
 
White team stats
 
Davion Ordonez: 2 pts.; Justin Fickland: 2 pts.; Tre Mcnary: 2 pts.; Tanner Ohrt: 2 pts.; Hunter Dudley 5 pts.
 
The White team played Giddings on Nov. 14 and lost 30-6.

Gobblers play Sinton Pirates Friday in San Antonio

 

The Cuero Gobblers (8-3) will face the Sinton Pirates (10-2) for round three at regional playoffs on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in San Antonio at the Farris Stadium. The stadium is on 8400 N. Loop 1604 W.
 
Cuero played Navarro last Friday and won 51-44. Sinton played Zapata and won 27-0. 
 
The preseason/season statistics are as follows.
 
Cuero averages 344 yards per game with a average of 206.8 yards rushing and 137.3 yards passing.

Metting takes 2013 TTTPA championship in San Antonio

 

The Truck and Tractor Pullers Association held their 2013 Championship Pull Nov. 8-9 at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.
 
Attending the championship pull were Glenn Treybig and Clint Metting. They qualified as they were in the top 5 in their class.
 
Glenn Treybig competed in the limited modify class with his tractor, “Mr. McNasty.” Going into the competition he had 183 points.  His chances of taking 2013 championship was impossible as he was 48 points behind first and 13 points behind fourth but that did not take his focus off the possibility of winning the local competition. Treybig took second on Friday and first on Saturday.

Lady Pirates currently 1-3 during pregame season

The Nordheim Lady Pirates had their trials of hard losses in the last few years. Coming into 2013-14 season Nordheim was 0-25 averaging 25.44 points per game with their opponent averaging 56.56 points per game. However, with new coach Randy Castillo there seems to be a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.

Jingle Bell 5K downtown Dec. 14

 

The Cuero Wellness Center will sponsor the Jingle Bell 5K and Junior Jingle Jog Saturday, Dec. 14. The race will begin at 9 a.m. The race will begin on Main Street, by the library.
 
Registration fees for those who register before Friday, Dec. 6 are $15 for high school students and $20 for adults. Registration fees for those who register after Dec. 6 or the morning of the race are $20 for high school students and $25 for adults. The fee to participate in the Jingle Jog is $5 for children 12 and under.
 
Those who participate may dress in holiday attire. Awards will be given to the best dressed.

Gobblers play Panthers Friday in San Antonio

 

The Cuero Gobblers (7-3, 3-2) will face the Geronimo Navarro Panthers (10-1, 4-1) for area playoffs on Friday, Nov. 22, in San Antonio at the Gustafson Northside Stadium. The stadium is located on Culebra Road off NW Loop 410.
 
Cuero played Columbus last Friday and won 42-21. Navarro played San Antonio Sam Houston and won 61-20. 
The preseason/season statistics are as follows.
 
Cuero’s team offense averages 338.7 yards per game with a average of 207.9 yards rushing and 130.8 yards passing. 
 
Navarro team offense averages 439.1 yards per game with an average of 354.5 yards rushing and 84.6 yards passing. The Panthers have a total of 68 touchdowns, 7 sacks, 12 interceptions, and average 51.4 tackles per game.

JV Gobblers end season undefeated

The JV Gobblers ended their season with an undefeated record of 10-0, 5-0.

In the last game of the season the JV Gobblers defeated La Grange 27-14.

Kitty Kats rally short at semi-finals

 

Yorktown coach Deirdre Alexander made every attempt to approach this game no different than any other but this was not like any other game. There was more at stake and the Kitty Kats knew it.
 
In 2012 Yorktown played against the Burton Lady Panthers in the semifinals and lost in three games. This was the Kats opportunity of “true redemption.”
 
Earlier in the season Coach Alexander said, “We want to say that we are better than the first game of the season.”  
 
The test of time held true for Yorktown as they played each and every game like it was their last.
