Billings headed to AAU National Championship

The 10U Tri-County Outlawz finished the season undefeated and won the CFPO-PAL junior division Super Bowl 22-14 against the New Braunfels Unicorns. The Out lawz will advance to Florida where they will compete for the 10U AAU national Championship Dec. 4-8. Jingle Bell 5K Dec. 14

 

The Cuero Wellness Center will sponsor the Jingle Bell 5K and Junior Jingle Jog Saturday, Dec. 14. The race will begin at 9 a.m. The race will begin on Main Street, by the library.
 
Registration fees for those who register before Friday, Dec. 6 are $15 for high school students and $20 for adults.
 
Registration fees for those who register after Dec. 6 or the morning of the race are $20 for high school students and $25 for adults. The fee to participate in the Jingle Jog is $5 for children 12 and under.
 
Those who participate may dress in holiday attire. Awards will be given to the best dressed.

Lady Gobblers win Goliad home game

 

The season did not look so good starting off for the Lady Gobblers until they broke ice Nov. 19 winning their first game during preseason against 2012 third round Goliad Tigerettes, 41-30.
 
Lady Gobblers basketball head coach Terrance Fryer said, “We have been playing pretty hard. We just have not been making the shots at the right time. For some reason they have been rimming out.”
 
Before the game Fryer said he will be happy if the game was close. It certainly was for the first half.
 
Goliad played a full court press during the firt period. Cuero overcame with speed on both sides of the court ending the period 8-7 with the Lady Gobblers ahead.

Seventh grade teams play Yoakum

 

The seventh grade Gobblers White and Green teams played Yoakum Nov. 18. The white team lost 13–18 and the Green team tied 23–23.
 
White team stats
 
Davion Ordonez: 2 pts.; Justin Fickland: 2 pts.; Tre Mcnary: 2 pts.; Tanner Ohrt: 2 pts.; Hunter Dudley 5 pts.
 
The White team played Giddings on Nov. 14 and lost 30-6.

Gobblers play Sinton Pirates Friday in San Antonio

 

The Cuero Gobblers (8-3) will face the Sinton Pirates (10-2) for round three at regional playoffs on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. in San Antonio at the Farris Stadium. The stadium is on 8400 N. Loop 1604 W.
 
Cuero played Navarro last Friday and won 51-44. Sinton played Zapata and won 27-0. 
 
The preseason/season statistics are as follows.
 
Cuero averages 344 yards per game with a average of 206.8 yards rushing and 137.3 yards passing.
