St. Michael’s Fall Festival
St. Michael’s Catholic School Fall Festival is scheduled for Sunday, October 25, at the Church Parish Hall, 104 McLeod St. in Cuero. A chicken-fried steak dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (dine in or take out). Activities include live and silent auctions, bingo, raffle, country store, costume contest and cake walk. New for this year are horseshoe, washer, volleyball, and domino tournaments. Call the school office at 277-3854 for details. Also music will be provided by the Shiner Hobo Band during lunch. DJ Boogie Shoes will provide music for street dancing beginning at 3 p.m. For the children there will be outside games, a petting zoo, and movies. Tickets available from any St. Michael’s students or the school office.
Booster Club at bonfire
There will be no Gobbler Booster Club meeting on Wednesday, October 14, due to the homecoming bonfire scheduled for the same night.
Christmas scene set up
Scene set up for Christmas in the Park’s 10th Anniversary Display is underway and the December Events Committee is asking for the public's help. The group works Monday-Friday starting at 8 a.m. at the DEC warehouse by the baseball field until opening day. Any help that the public can give will be greatly appreciated. Driver’s Ed classes
Project S.H.A.R.P. Driver’s Ed. will begin October 26th. Classes will be from 3:45 until 5:45 Monay through Thursday at the High School. The class is free to any CISD student that is at least 15 years of age.
CAMAL House hours
The CAMAL House will be open to distribute food on Thursday October 22nd from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Shrimp dinner Oct. 18
Knights of Columbus Council #1682 will be hosting its Annual Columbus Day Shrimp Dinner on Sunday, October 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Michael’s Hall in Cuero. The meal will include fried shrimp, rice, cole slaw, and hushpuppies. Tea or coffee will be available at the hall only. Plates to go will be available. Advance tickets for $7 are available from any KC member. Cost at the door is also $7. Proceeds from the meal are used for scholarships and various other charities of the Knights of Columbus.
Hermann Sons celebration
Come celebrate with the Cuero Hermann Sons Family Lodge 82-4. The Lodge will be celebrating 100 years of Fraternal Friendship, Love, and Loyalty on October 24, with a dance from 8-12 featuring the Tim Hall Band. Flu shots at clinic
Flu shots are now available at Cuero Medical Clinic; please call to schedule your time. The clinic will be giving them Monday - Friday from 2-4 pm.
St. Michael’s arts, crafts
The annual St. Michael’s Home and School Association “Santa’s Arts and Crafts Sale” will take place on Saturday, December 5th at the St. Michael’s Parish Hall. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Santa will be available for pictures. A country store and silent auction will also be held. Registration is now being accepted for vendors to participate in this event. Golf Classic on Oct. 17
DeWitt Medical Foundation’s 10th Annual Golf Classic will be Saturday, Oct. 17, at Cuero Municipal Golf course followed by a reception and dinner at Cuero Country Club. CAMAL House donations
Calvary Baptist Church, 102 Warn St. Cuero, will be accepting donations of flour, sugar, cooking oil, and canned soup for the CAMAL House in their parking lot next to Sonic Saturday, October 17th from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. For more information call the church at 275-3736.
Successful Aging program
Valerie Ramsey with the Heritage Program for Senior Adults will give a presentation on “Successful Aging” on October 16th at 11:30 am at the DeWitt County Senior Citizens Center located at 1013 E. Courthouse St. in Cuero. Questions call 275-9182.

Carter benefit Saturday
A benefit BBQ for Henry Carter to defray medical expenses will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 11 am - 2 pm at 308 S. Indianola. The meal will consit of chicken, sausage, and all the trimmins. Benefit for Kaycee Smith
A benefit raffle for Kaycee Smith will be held on October 30, at Prosperity Bank - Cuero Banking Center at 5:00 p.m. Proceeds from the benefit will help to defray medical expenses. Tickets are available at Prosperity Bank, The Cuero Record, and Starbucks in Victoria and are $5 each or five for $20. There will be over 50 prizes given away. Cuero Country Opry
On the third Thursday of each month Cuero Pilot Club hosts the Cuero Country Opry at the VFW hall, Highway 183 North. The next performance is Thursday, Oct. 15. Dinner (catered by Werner’s of Shiner) is served at 5:30; the show follows at 7:00. Tickets are $10.00 and may be purchased in advance from any Pilot Club member, the Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture, Full-O-Pep Ranch & Garden Center, Prosperity Bank, Kleinecke Flower Shop or Reuss Pharmacy. St. Michael’s Bake-Off
St. Michael’s School Bake-Off, sponsored by the Catholic Daughters, Court #347, will be held in conjunction with this year’s St. Michael’s Home and School Association’s Fall Festival. Categories for the bake-off include cakes, pies, breads, cookies, and candy. All entries will be judged on Saturday, October 24th with winners being announced on Sunday, October 25th when the Fall Festival will be held. Health, Wellness Fair
Mark your calendars. Tuesday, November 3rd, Cuero Community Hospital will be hosting a Patriotic Health and Wellness Fair at the VFW Hall. “Red White & Blue for a Healthy You” is this year’s theme with the fair running from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
Garfield Flea Market
Garfield Flea Market will be held Sunday November 1, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Arts and crafts, Christmas gifts and decorations, handmade candles, bird houses, and much more. Many new vendors. Yearbooks at CHS
Anyone who ordered a Cuero High School yearbook last year may pick up it up at the CHS journalism room (Room 40) of the High School Vocational Building. Current high school students must pick up their yearbooks during the following times each school day: 7:30 to 8:40 a.m. and 12:30 to 12:50 p.m. Graduates and parents may pick up yearbooks anytime between 7:35 a.m. and noon each day or by arranging a pick-up time with Bill Matthys at 275-5691. A limited number of yearbooks are also available for purchase at a cost of $65.
Prayer at Trinity Church
Residents of the area communities are invited to join in prayer at Trinity Church on Monday nights from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The church is located at 2009 N. Clinton Street, behind Kleinecke Flower Shop. Everyone is welcome.
Turkey, dressing dinner
Meyersville Country Club will serve turkey and dressing at the Clubhouse on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 11 to 1. The cost will be $8 for plates to go or dine-in. Plates include green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberries, gravy and dessert. Tickets can be purchased from members, at Meyersville Store, 275-2049; at Kleidershrank-Ruschhaupt Plumbing in Cuero, 275-6621. If specified, plates can be picked up in Cuero at the TrustTexas Bank parking lot on Courthouse Street at 11:30 a.m.
Diabetic Support Group
Diabetic Support Group meets the second Thursday of each month at First United Methodist Church located at 211 N. Clinton from 10 to 11.
Outreach hall dedication
Everyone is invited to come and fellowship with the Outreach for Souls Church as they dedicate their new fellowship hall. Special guest minister will be Brother Radames Vila from Killeen. Service will begin at 3 p.m. with a meal to be served immediately following the service.
Ministers meet weekly
Pastors and church leaders are invited to join Cuero Area Ministerial Alliance which meets each Monday at Cuero Assembly of God at 8 a.m. for an interdenominational time of prayer and fellowship.
Evangelism course begins
God's Way Fellowship, 600 Evers will begin, in the fellowship hall, an eight week evangelism course on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Coffee will be served and every one wanting to learn how to witness for the Lord is welcome. For more info call Pastors Robert or Patsy Moore at 275-3078 or 524-0161.
FFA Registration
Cuero FFA registration is now open for the 2009-2010 school year. Dues to join the Cuero FFA are $20 and registration closes on October 15th. Contact Kyle Baker in the Ag. Building at 275-5691.
God’s Way special service
Texas Full Gospel Churches International will hold worship and preaching service at God’s Way Fellowship on Saturday, November 7th starting at 1 p.m. with State Superintendent Rev. Norman Fikes officiating. FGCI ministers from across the state will be introduced and the location of their church announced. God’s Way Fellowship is chartered with the FGCI with Rev. Robert and Patsy Moore, pastors. Refreshments will be provided. The public is invited and any local ministers regardless of denomination. The church is located in Cuero at 600 Evers Street. Sr. Citizen party plan
DeWitt County Senior Citizens Center will hold its annual Christmas party on December 4 at 10 a.m. Any companies or citizens that may have door prizes to donate can contact Joyce Eichhorn, director, at 361-564-2155.
Better Breathers Club meeting
Better Breathers club is an educational/fun get together for people who have COPD. Advanced Home Health Services and Praxair Healthcare Services are sponsoring the meeting of the Better Breathers Club at Parkside Clinic (educational room) in Cuero from 10 am to 11 am, Wednesday October 14th.
