Christmas scene set up
Scene set up for Christmas in the Park’s 10th Anniversary Display is underway and the December Events Committee is asking for the public's help. The group works Monday-Friday starting at 8 a.m. at the DEC warehouse by the baseball field until opening day. Any help that the public can give will be greatly appreciated. Veteran’s program at CHS
A special invitation is extended to all area veterans and the public to attend the Veterans’ Day Ceremony to be held at Cuero High School on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The event will begin at 9:45 a.m. and will be located in the stadium near the flag pole. The program is being held to honor all Veterans as well as rededicate the flag pole that was donated to the school in 1959 from VFW Post No. 7835. The high school band and choir will perform. Seats will be provided for all Veterans in attendance. Following the service, all visitors are invited to attend a reception that will be held in the High School Library.
 
Gobbler Hall of Fame plans
Cuero ISD Alumni Association and Gobbler Booster Club will induct two former Gobblers into the Gobbler Hall of Fame at the Cuero - Edna football game here on Friday, Nov. 6. The new inductees are 1974 graduate Arthur Whittington and 1990 graduate Rodney Pedraza. The public is invited to a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cuero High School Cafetorium to congratulate these individuals prior to the game. Whittington is requesting team members from the state champion 1973 and 1974 Gobbler football teams to join him in accepting the award on the field that night.
 
Health, Wellness Fair
Mark your calendars. Tuesday, November 3rd, Cuero Community Hospital will be hosting a Patriotic Health and Wellness Fair at the VFW Hall. “Red White & Blue for a Healthy You” is this year’s theme with the fair running from 3:00 – 5:30 p.m.
 
CCH Auxiliary bake sale
Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual Fall Luncheon, Bake Sale, and Raffle on Friday, Nov. 6, in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 10:00-1:30 p.m. Funds from last year’s event along with proceeds from Bloomingdeal’s Re-Sale Shop and the Hospital’s Wishing Well gift shop, funded $6,000 in scholarships, bought three limestone benches, and provided $15,000 in landscaping for the new additions to Cuero Community Hospital. The raffle are $1 each or six for $5. Come for a soup and sandwich lunch, choose among items baked by some of Cuero’s best bakers, but you don’t have to be present to win a raffle prize.” For further information contact one of the chairs or any volunteer.
 
Westhoff Veteran’s Day
Westhoff School invites all veterans and guests to attend their Annual Veteran’s Day Program. The program will be held on Tuesday, November 10th. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the cafeteria. The program is being held to honor those who have served in the military. This year’s program will feature members of the Cuero High School Choir performing patriotic numbers. A dinner will be provided for everyone in attendance. CJHS Open House, Book Fair
Cuero Junior High School would like to invite parents and students to its Open House and Book Fair on Wednesday, October 28 from 3:45-6:00 pm. The public is invited to attend and browse the Book Fair in the library and stop in and meet your child’s teachers.
 
City to observe holiday
In observance of Veterans Day, City Hall and City Administration Offices will be closed Wednesday, November 11, and reopen on Thursday, November 12. The Sanitation schedule will be as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday routes will remain the same. Wednesday’s commercial routes will be picked up on Tuesday and Thursday. No routes will run Wednesday.
 
Benefit for Kaycee Smith
A benefit raffle for Kaycee Smith will be held on October 30, at Prosperity Bank - Cuero Banking Center at 5:00 p.m. Proceeds from the benefit will help to defray medical expenses. Tickets are available at Prosperity Bank, The Cuero Record, and Starbucks in Victoria and are $5 each or five for $20. There will be over 50 prizes given away. Thanksgiving dinner meetings
Lets Stand Together Thanksgiving Dinner will meet every Thursday at Milly’s on Main at 7 p.m. Donations can be dropped off to David Ruiz, 201 W. Morgan, or cash donations can be taken to Wells Fargo. Methodist - trunk or treat
Cuero First United Methodist Church, 211 N. Clinton, will host a “trunk or treat” event from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Halloween Saturday, October 31, on the sidewalk beside the church. Members will be handing out goodies from their decorated car trunks and truck beds. Come enjoy a fun, safe “trunk or treat” experience.
 
Turkeyfest turkey dinner
Cuero Turkeyfest will hold a bake turkey and dressing dinner on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the American Legion Hall in Cuero from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The turkey and dressing dinner will be served to-go at $8 per plate pre-sale or $10 at the gate. Tickets are available at The Cooking Depot, Ranch House Spirits and Gifts, Ful-O-Pep Ranch and Garden Center, Main Street Kaffee House and Deli, Anders Auto, American Legion Hall or any Turkeyfest board member. Proceeds will benefit local civic organizations.
 
St. Michael’s arts, crafts
The annual St. Michael’s Home and School Association “Santa’s Arts and Crafts Sale” will take place on Saturday, December 5th at the St. Michael’s Parish Hall. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Santa will be available for pictures. A country store and silent auction will also be held. Registration is now being accepted for vendors to participate in this event. Saturday lunch bunch
The public is invited to enjoy a free lunch each Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at the St. Mark's Fellowship Hall. The free lunch and socializing is presented each week by a different church or organization On October 31 St. Michael’s Catholic Church volunteers will host the lunch. If any church or organization would like to participate in this service, contact one of the participating churches.
 
Night golf tourney
Mark your calendars for a unique and fun evening of "Glow Ball Golf" Sunday, Nov. 8. Sign up by 5:00 pm. A meal will be hosted and served by Rick Wheeler and Frank Burns and families at 5:30 p.m. Bring your flashlights for the after dark tournament with Glow Balls at 6:30 pm. Golf carts, snacks, and drinks are available at the Golf Pro-shop. All spouses and families are invited to join their golfers for a fun evening of 'Moon Light Golf'. Lindenau stew Nov. 7-8
In conjunction with the Lindenau Harvest Home Show set for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8, at the hall, Lindenau Rifle Club is selling its famous ‘Lindenau Stew’ as well as sandwiches and desserts. There will also be a limited amount of stuffed cabbage available for purchase. Stew will be available for dine in or to-go at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Proceeds will be used for the preservation of the hall.
 
Garfield Flea Market
Garfield Flea Market will be held Sunday November 1, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Arts and crafts, Christmas gifts and decorations, handmade candles, bird houses, and much more. Many new vendors. Homemade beef stew for $3 served for lunch. Desserts made by the Garfield ladies. Booth rental is $7. Call 361-564-3258.
 
Hudgeons benefit Nov. 7
A benefit for Aaron Hudgeons will be held Saturday, November 7th at the Cuero VFW Hall. BBQ Chicken plates will be sold for $8 each from 11am-1pm. A BBQ Sausage plate will be sold for $8 each from 4:30pm – 7 pm. Dine in or to go plates will be available for both meals. Meal tickets and raffle tickets can be purchased at Hudgeon’s Paint and Body, or contact Shanna Kurtz at 361-649-9792 or shannakurtz@yahoo.com for more information. A bake sale, live auction, raffle drawing, and dance will take place starting at 6 p.m. Silent auction items will be available all day. Proceeds will allow Aaron to undergo treatments to fight cancer.
 
Calvary ‘Pumpkin Patch’
Calvary Baptist Church will be having their annual Fall Festival “Praising in the Pumpkin Patch” Saturday October 31st, 6 pm. - 8 pm. All children are invited. All activities are free and include a free hotdog for each child that attends! Lots of games with prizes, face painting, and lots of fun included. Diabetic Support Group
Diabetic Support Group meets the second Thursday of each month at First United Methodist Church located at 211 N. Clinton from 10 to 11.
 
Outreach hall dedication
Everyone is invited to come and fellowship with the Outreach for Souls Church as they dedicate their new fellowship hall. Special guest minister will be Brother Radames Vila from Killeen. Service will begin at 3 p.m. with a meal to be served immediately following the service.
 
Ministers meet weekly
Pastors and church leaders are invited to join Cuero Area Ministerial Alliance which meets each Monday at Cuero Assembly of God at 8 a.m. for an interdenominational time of prayer and fellowship.
 
Evangelism course begins
God's Way Fellowship, 600 Evers will begin, in the fellowship hall, an eight week evangelism course on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. Coffee will be served and every one wanting to learn how to witness for the Lord is welcome. For more info call Pastors Robert or Patsy Moore at 275-3078 or 524-0161.
 
God’s Way special service
Texas Full Gospel Churches International will hold worship and preaching service at God’s Way Fellowship on Saturday, November 7th starting at 1 p.m. with State Superintendent Rev. Norman Fikes officiating. FGCI ministers from across the state will be introduced and the location of their church announced. God’s Way Fellowship is chartered with the FGCI with Rev. Robert and Patsy Moore, pastors. Refreshments will be provided. The public is invited and any local ministers regardless of denomination. The church is located in Cuero at 600 Evers Street. Country Opry Nov. 19
On the third Thursday of each month Cuero Pilot Club hosts the Cuero Country Opry at the VFW hall, Highway 183 North. The next performance is Thursday, Nov. 19. Dinner (catered by Werner’s of Shiner) is served at 5:30; the show follows at 7:00. Tickets are $10.00 and may be purchased in advance from any Pilot Club member, the Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture, Full-O-Pep Ranch & Garden Center, Prosperity Bank, Kleinecke Flower Shop or Reuss Pharmacy. CDC facade program
Cuero Development Corporation announces a new program available to Cuero businesses. The Façade Improvement Program is a dollar-for-dollar match up to $2,500 maximum for improvements made to the front façade of a commercial building with an existing business. Sr. Citizen party plan
DeWitt County Senior Citizens Center will hold its annual Christmas party on December 4 at 10 a.m. Any companies or citizens that may have door prizes to donate can contact Joyce Eichhorn, director, at 361-564-2155.
 
Donations for Cardona
Donations are being accepted to help defray medical costs for Dora Cardona who was injured as a result of an accident. Make donations at Wells Fargo Bank in Cuero to the Dora Cardona Benefit Fund.

Defensive driving
Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture will sponsor the next Defensive Driving course on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 10-11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The fee for the course is $35 for ticket dismissal and insurance discounts. Ribbon cuting Thurs.
Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture will host a ribbon cutting for 3 Fold Solutions on Thursday, October 29 at 4:30 p.m. 3 Fold Solutions is owned by Evan Overby and is located at 136 E. Main. Refreshments will be served, the public is invited to attend.
Vietnam Vets memorial
The Vietnam Vets are planning a monument to all DeWitt County Vietnam war veterans. The monument will consist of a mounted Huwe chopper, individual monuments for vets who died in Vietnam, and nine flags with night lighting. The vets are asking for donations to help with the purchase of the chopper and other materials to make their dream a reality. Donations for the project may be given to any Vietnam Vet member or dropped off at Citizens Bank in Yorktown. All donations are greatly appreciated and needed as soon as possible because they want to have the memorial installed by Memorial Day, 2010.
 
Santa parade Nov. 28
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves will arrive by Texas Longhorn on Saturday Nov. 28, at 11:00. The Cuero Police will escort our North Pole guests as they travel from the Library to the H&R Block Parking Lot on Esplanade. Everyone is invited to line the street to witness this momentous occasion. Come visit with Santa, his Longhorn and Friends from 11:00 to 1:00 at the H&R Block parking lot on Esplanade. Pictures will be available for $6.00 and the first 100 children will receive goodie bags. This event is sponsored by the Cuero Business Co-op.
 
Holiday Open House
The Cuero Business Co-Op will celebrate it “Holiday Open House” Thanksgiving weekend. Members will be offering specials and serving snacks and refreshments during the holiday weekend. Also register at any CBC member for $100 in Cuero Bucks.

Shop until 8 pm Thursdays in December till Christmas. Shop from 5-8 and register for $100 in Cuero Bucks each week. Follow the Gift Trail for participating merchants. Sponsored by the Cuero Business Co-Op.
 
TSU mixer Nov. 3
Join fellow SWT and Texas State graduates for the second Texas State University alumni mixer for the Greater Victoria area. Enjoy appetizers, door prizes and social networking at Johnny Carino’s (4904 Navarro St.- 361.485.9816) in Victoria on Tuesday, November 3rd beginning at 6 p.m. The Greater Victoria chapter was created so that alumni can network with fellow SWT and Texas State former students as well as find out interesting topics about the university. This event is for anyone who ever attended SWT or Texas State and you don’t have to be a member of the alumni association. There will be a Texas State speaker at each of the quarterly mixers.
