Golfers take on remodeling project and fundraising

A group of golfers and community volunteers, coupled with a commitment by the Cuero Golf Association, have taken on the task of some desperately needed repairs and remodeling of the Cuero Golf Pro-Shop. Hundreds of volunteer hours have already been logged into this project. The Cuero Golf Association is committed to making Cuero’s park and golf course “The Pride of Cuero and the Community”.
If you have driven through the Cuero Municipal Park lately, you may have noticed the improvements already taking place. The Cuero Golf Association has been proactive in promoting and improving the park and the golf course. Beginning in 2008, they initiated a monthly Family Fun Golf Event, “Friday Nite Fever Golf”, which has been a huge success.
The Golf Pro-Shop facility is rich in Cuero history as it originally provided housing in Braden Park for military families based in Braden Field during WW II. During the 1950s, this facility was moved to the park where it housed the Cuero Country Club until the early 1980s. During that time, the Pro-Shop was operated from the Rock Building in the park. After the Cuero Country Club built a new facility across the lake, the Braden Park building became the present Golf Pro-Shop.
To assist with the costs of remodeling and repairs Cuero Golf Association appointed a fund raising committee. Several projects have already begun including two raffles and golf tournaments. These projects are dedicated to defray costs of the repairs and remodeling. In addition, the Association is asking all golfing enthusiasts and community-minded citizens to participate with contributions or memorials.
All gift amounts will be appreciated. If you would like to donate in honor of a loved one or friend, or make a donation, the levels of contributions and memorials honored with engraved plaques on pro-shop walls are as follows:
Level I Hole-In-One - $1000+
Level II Eagle - $500+
Level III Birdie - $250+
Level IV Par - $100+
For assistance with a special contribution or memorial, you can contact one of the committee members below – or drop off your contribution at the Pro-Shop --- or mail your check to Cuero Golf Association, P.O. Box 917, Cuero, TX 77954
Fund raising committee members include: Larry and Linda Coppedge, 275-2285; Ken and Susan Adams, 275-3690; Byron and Deanna Wolf, 277-2214.
The Association’s mission is to provide an attractive environment for community and golfing families to golf, gather, and socialize.
