Christmas scene set up
Scene set up for Christmas in the Park’s 10th Anniversary Display is underway and the December Events Committee is asking for the public's help. The group works Monday-Friday starting at 8 a.m. at the DEC warehouse by the baseball field until opening day. Any help that the public can give will be greatly appreciated. Veteran’s program at CHS
A special invitation is extended to all area veterans and the public to attend the Veterans’ Day Ceremony to be held at Cuero High School on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The event will begin at 9:45 a.m. and will be located in the stadium near the flag pole. The program is being held to honor all Veterans as well as rededicate the flag pole that was donated to the school in 1959 from VFW Post No. 7835. The high school band and choir will perform. Seats will be provided for all Veterans in attendance. Following the service, all visitors are invited to attend a reception that will be held in the High School Library.
Gobbler Hall of Fame plans
Cuero ISD Alumni Association and Gobbler Booster Club will induct two former Gobblers into the Gobbler Hall of Fame at the Cuero - Edna football game here on Friday, Nov. 6. The new inductees are 1974 graduate Arthur Whittington and 1990 graduate Rodney Pedraza. The public is invited to a reception from 6 to 7 p.m. at Cuero High School Cafetorium to congratulate these individuals prior to the game. Whittington is requesting team members from the state champion 1973 and 1974 Gobbler football teams to join him in accepting the award on the field that night.
CCH Auxiliary bake sale
Cuero Community Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual Fall Luncheon, Bake Sale, and Raffle on Friday, Nov. 6, in the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall from 10:00-1:30 p.m. Funds from last year’s event along with proceeds from Bloomingdeal’s Re-Sale Shop and the Hospital’s Wishing Well gift shop, funded $6,000 in scholarships, bought three limestone benches, and provided $15,000 in landscaping for the new additions to Cuero Community Hospital. The raffle are $1 each or six for $5. Come for a soup and sandwich lunch, choose among items baked by some of Cuero’s best bakers, but you don’t have to be present to win a raffle prize.” For further information contact one of the chairs or any volunteer.
Veterans Day ceremony
Cuero VFW Post 3972 and American Legion Dinter Post 3 will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial on the Courthouse lawn. If you would like to volunteer to speak at the ceremony contact Bobby Schley at 277-3083.
Westhoff Veteran’s Day
Westhoff School invites all veterans and guests to attend their Annual Veterans Day Program. The program will be held on Tuesday, November 10th. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the cafeteria. The program is being held to honor those who have served in the military. This year’s program will feature members of the Cuero High School Choir performing patriotic numbers. A dinner will be provided for everyone in attendance. Meyersville Veteran’s Day
Meyersville School will hold a Veterans Day Program at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11th, in the school gym. The program will be “Stand Up”. The school will be honoring all veterans and showing our patriotism. The school would like to invite everyone to attend especially any and all veterans.
CAMAL House hours
C.A.M.A.L. House will be open to distribute food on the second and third Thursdays in November and December. The November dates are Thursday, Nov. 12 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 16 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.
City to observe holiday
In observance of Veterans Day, City Hall and City Administration Offices will be closed Wednesday, November 11, and reopen on Thursday, November 12. The Sanitation schedule will be as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday routes will remain the same. Wednesday’s commercial routes will be picked up on Tuesday and Thursday. No routes will run Wednesday.
CCH Volunteer meeting
Cuero Community Hospital Volunteers will hold their bi-monthly meeting in the hospital’s M.G. and Lillie Johnson Foundation Education Center at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9. All members are encouraged to attend. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer is invited to come meet the members and join the fun.

Cuero Turkeyfest will hold a bake turkey and dressing dinner on Sunday, Nov. 15, at the American Legion Hall in Cuero from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The turkey and dressing dinner will be served to-go at $8 per plate pre-sale or $10 at the gate. Tickets are available at The Cooking Depot, Ranch House Spirits and Gifts, Ful-O-Pep Ranch and Garden Center, Main Street Kaffee House and Deli, Anders Auto, American Legion Hall or any Turkeyfest board member. Proceeds will benefit local civic organizations.
Stopping Internet predators
How do Internet predators target children? What techniques do they use? What can you do to stop them? For many children and young adults there is a sense that what happens online can't hurt them. Unfortunately, we are finding that many teens are posting personal information in chat rooms and on social networking sites making them easy prey for child predators. This presentation by Sgt. Paul Aleman with the Office of the Texas Attorney General’s Criminal Investigations Division, allows the community to hear straight talk about the risks of online child predators and the steps all of us can take to protect our children. Join us at 12 noon on Thursday, November 12 at the Cuero Intermediate School library. Snacks will be provided as well as babysitting and transportation. St. Michael’s arts, crafts
The annual St. Michael’s Home and School Association “Santa’s Arts and Crafts Sale” will take place on Saturday, December 5th at the St. Michael’s Parish Hall. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Santa will be available for pictures. A country store and silent auction will also be held. Registration is now being accepted for vendors to participate in this event. Saturday lunch bunch
The public is invited to enjoy a free lunch each Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon at the St. Mark's Fellowship Hall. Lindenau stew Nov. 7-8
In conjunction with the Lindenau Harvest Home Show set for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8, at the hall, Lindenau Rifle Club is selling its famous ‘Lindenau Stew’ as well as sandwiches and desserts. There will also be a limited amount of stuffed cabbage available for purchase. Stew will be available for dine in or to-go at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Proceeds will be used for the preservation of the hall.
Hudgeons benefit Nov. 7
A benefit for Aaron Hudgeons will be held Saturday, November 7th at the Cuero VFW Hall. BBQ Chicken plates will be sold for $8 each from 11am-1pm. A BBQ Sausage plate will be sold for $8 each from 4:30pm – 7 pm. Dine in or to go plates will be available for both meals. Meal tickets and raffle tickets can be purchased at Hudgeon’s Paint and Body or at the VFW on Saturday. A live auction, raffle drawing, and dance will take place starting at 6 p.m. Silent auction items and bake sale will be available all day. VFW meeting Tuesday
VFW Post 3972 and Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the VFW Hall, with dinner at 7 p.m. and meeting to follow. Members are asked to bring a side dish. This meeting had previously been scheduled for Thursday but there was a conflict in scheduling.
CCA banquet Nov. 12
The CCA Texas Guadalupe Valley Chapter’s Annual Banquet is set for Thursday, Nov. 12, at the VFW Hall in Cuero. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 and include your CCA annual membership, food, and beverages. The evening will include a live and silent auction featuring guided fishing trips, artwork, hunting and fishing equipment and various other items. Benefit golf tournament
A benefit golf tournament for the Child Welfare Board of Cuero will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. Proceeds will go into a fund to allow for the purchase of diapers, Christmas needs, winter jackets, and toys for the Rainbow Room. The tournament format will be a 4-person blind draw scramble. Entry fee will be a $25 tournament donation (all proceeds to welfare board). Sign-up sheets are available at the Pro Shop. Diabetic Support Group meets the second Thursday of each month at First United Methodist Church located at 211 N. Clinton from 10 to 11.
Outreach hall dedication
Everyone is invited to come and fellowship with the Outreach for Souls Church as they dedicate their new fellowship hall. Special guest minister will be Brother Radames Vila from Killeen. Service will begin at 3 p.m. with a meal to be served immediately following the service.

Evangelism course begins

God’s Way special service
Texas Full Gospel Churches International will hold worship and preaching service at God’s Way Fellowship on Saturday, November 7th starting at 1 p.m. with State Superintendent Rev. Norman Fikes officiating. FGCI ministers from across the state will be introduced and the location of their church announced. God’s Way Fellowship is chartered with the FGCI with Rev. Trinity Church will have a huge garage sale at 108 E. Park St. Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 to 2. It will be in the Trinity Church Fellowship Hall, located behind Kleinecke’s Flowers.

Country Opry Nov. 19
On the third Thursday of each month Cuero Pilot Club hosts the Cuero Country Opry at the VFW hall, Highway 183 North. The next performance is Thursday, Nov. 19. CDC facade program
Cuero Development Corporation announces a new program available to Cuero businesses. The Façade Improvement Program is a dollar-for-dollar match up to $2,500 maximum for improvements made to the front façade of a commercial building with an existing business. Defensive driving
Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture will sponsor the next Defensive Driving course on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 10-11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The fee for the course is $35 for ticket dismissal and insurance discounts. Lasagna dinner Dec. 3
There will be a lasagna dinner on December 3rd at Millies on Main from 5pm-7pm for your holiday shopping convenience. Stores will be open until 8pm on Thursdays in December until Christmas and will have a drawing each week for $100. Tickets for the dinner are $10 and can be purchased at The Chamber, Rath Propane/Cooking Depot, & Wagner Hardware. This is a partnership event by Project Graduation and the Cuero Business Coop.
Vietnam Vets memorial
The Vietnam Vets are planning a monument to all DeWitt County Vietnam war veterans. The monument will consist of a mounted Huwe chopper, individual monuments for vets who died in Vietnam, and nine flags with night lighting. The vets are asking for donations to help with the purchase of the chopper and other materials to make their dream a reality. Donations for the project may be given to any Vietnam Vet member or dropped off at Citizens Bank in Yorktown. All donations are greatly appreciated and needed as soon as possible because they want to have the memorial installed by Memorial Day, 2010.
Santa parade Nov. 28
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves will arrive by Texas Longhorn on Saturday Nov. 28, at 11:00. The Cuero Police will escort our North Pole guests as they travel from the Library to the H&R Block Parking Lot on Esplanade. Everyone is invited to line the street to witness this momentous occasion. Come visit with Santa, his Longhorn and Friends from 11:00 to 1:00 at the H&R Block parking lot on Esplanade. Pictures will be available for $6.00 and the first 100 children will receive goodie bags. This event is sponsored by the Cuero Business Co-op.

Yorktown Christmas Bazaar
The Fourth Annual Christmas Bazaar will be held at the Yorktown Community Hall on December 5. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and scheduled closing is at 2 p.m. Santa's Cafe will be open at 9 a.m. for coffee, tea, cocoa and some sweets to enjoy. At 11 a.m. serving will begin for homemade soup (potato, chicken noodle and taco). In conjunction with the Lindenau Harvest Home Show set for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7-8, at the hall, Lindenau Rifle Club is selling its famous ‘Lindenau Stew’ as well as sandwiches and desserts. There will also be a limited amount of stuffed cabbage available for purchase. Stew will be available for dine in or to-go at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. on Sunday. Proceeds will be used for the preservation of the hall.
Hudgeons benefit Nov. 7
A benefit for Aaron Hudgeons will be held Saturday, November 7th at the Cuero VFW Hall. BBQ Chicken plates will be sold for $8 each from 11am-1pm. A BBQ Sausage plate will be sold for $8 each from 4:30pm – 7 pm. Dine in or to go plates will be available for both meals. Meal tickets and raffle tickets can be purchased at Hudgeon’s Paint and Body or at the VFW on Saturday. A live auction, raffle drawing, and dance will take place starting at 6 p.m. Silent auction items and bake sale will be available all day. VFW meeting Tuesday
VFW Post 3972 and Auxiliary will meet Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the VFW Hall, with dinner at 7 p.m. and meeting to follow. Members are asked to bring a side dish. This meeting had previously been scheduled for Thursday but there was a conflict in scheduling.
CCA banquet Nov. 12
The CCA Texas Guadalupe Valley Chapter’s Annual Banquet is set for Thursday, Nov. 12, at the VFW Hall in Cuero. Doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 and include your CCA annual membership, food, and beverages. The evening will include a live and silent auction featuring guided fishing trips, artwork, hunting and fishing equipment and various other items. A raffle is being hel for a 2010 Bush Hog 4430 4x4 Utility Vehicle; tickets are $10 each. Benefit golf tournament
A benefit golf tournament for the Child Welfare Board of Cuero will be held Saturday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. Proceeds will go into a fund to allow for the purchase of diapers, Christmas needs, winter jackets, and toys for the Rainbow Room. The tournament format will be a 4-person blind draw scramble. Entry fee will be a $25 tournament donation (all proceeds to welfare board). Sign-up sheets are available at the Pro Shop. Diabetic Support Group meets the second Thursday of each month at First United Methodist Church located at 211 N. Clinton from 10 to 11.
Outreach hall dedication
Everyone is invited to come and fellowship with the Outreach for Souls Church as they dedicate their new fellowship hall. Special guest minister will be Brother Radames Vila from Killeen. Service will begin at 3 p.m. with a meal to be served immediately following the service.

Evangelism course begins

God’s Way special service
Texas Full Gospel Churches International will hold worship and preaching service at God’s Way Fellowship on Saturday, November 7th starting at 1 p.m. with State Superintendent Rev. Norman Fikes officiating. FGCI ministers from across the state will be introduced and the location of their church announced. God’s Way Fellowship is chartered with the FGCI with Rev. Country Opry Nov. 19

Cuero Development Corporation announces a new program available to Cuero businesses. The Façade Improvement Program is a dollar-for-dollar match up to $2,500 maximum for improvements made to the front façade of a commercial building with an existing business. Defensive driving
Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture will sponsor the next Defensive Driving course on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 10-11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The fee for the course is $35 for ticket dismissal and insurance discounts. Lasagna dinner Dec. 3
There will be a lasagna dinner on December 3rd at Millies on Main from 5pm-7pm for your holiday shopping convenience. Stores will be open until 8pm on Thursdays in December until Christmas and will have a drawing each week for $100. Vietnam Vets memorial
The Vietnam Vets are planning a monument to all DeWitt County Vietnam war veterans. The monument will consist of a mounted Huwe chopper, individual monuments for vets who died in Vietnam, and nine flags with night lighting. The vets are asking for donations to help with the purchase of the chopper and other materials to make their dream a reality. Donations for the project may be given to any Vietnam Vet member or dropped off at Citizens Bank in Yorktown. All donations are greatly appreciated and needed as soon as possible because they want to have the memorial installed by Memorial Day, 2010.
Santa parade Nov. 28
Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the Elves will arrive by Texas Longhorn on Saturday Nov. 28, at 11:00. The Cuero Police will escort our North Pole guests as they travel from the Library to the H&R Block Parking Lot on Esplanade. Everyone is invited to line the street to witness this momentous occasion. Come visit with Santa, his Longhorn and Friends from 11:00 to 1:00 at the H&R Block parking lot on Esplanade. Pictures will be available for $6.00 and the first 100 children will receive goodie bags. This event is sponsored by the Cuero Business Co-op.

Yorktown Christmas Bazaar
The Fourth Annual Christmas Bazaar will be held at the Yorktown Community Hall on December 5. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and scheduled closing is at 2 p.m. Santa's Cafe will be open at 9 a.m. for coffee, tea, cocoa and some sweets to enjoy. At 11 a.m. serving will begin for homemade soup (potato, chicken noodle and taco).
