Meyersville play set
The Meyersville School will present “The Lost Treasure” at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10. The Christmas Program is written and directed by Cindy Slovacek, a teacher at the school. The play will be in the gym and everyone is invited to attend. CAMAL House dates C.A.M.A.L. House will be open to distribute food on the second and third Thursdays in December. The December dates are Thursday, Dec. 10, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. And Thursday Dec. 17, form 2:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Go Texan chili for sale
DeWitt County Go Texan Committee will be having a chili fundraising event on Thursday, December 10, at the Friar Ag Center in the Cuero City Park, between 6:00-10:00 p.m. The chili will be $8 per quart and will be “to go” only. This fundraising event is being held to help offset the costs of youth and adults participating in the 2010 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go Texan contests, which in turn benefits the local scholarship program. Westhoff Christmas play
Westhoff School students will present a play “Around the World at Christmas Time” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15 in the Westhoff School cafeteria. Following the play, Santa will visit and give goodie bags to all children. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is invited to attend.
Shopping safety tips
Parents and interested citizens are invited to hear Michael Marr, Cuero Independent School District Resource Officer, speak about safety during the upcoming holidays on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Officer Marr will give tips on shopping safety, keeping your children out of trouble during the holidays and other safety issues parents encounter during the holiday season. The public is invited to attend this free program which will be held at the Gobbler Getaway (formerly the Cuero High School cafeteria) from 11:45 – 1:00 noon. Snacks will be provided as well as babysitting and transportation. Please call 275-9408 for more information.
Library closed for repairs
Cuero Public Library will be closed for repairs thru Saturday, December 12. No overdue fines will be charged for material due during this time. Food, coats needed Cuero ISD Social Services is accepting donations of non-perishable food items, new coats or hooded sweatshirts and school supplies for needy families through Dec. 14. Two ribbon cuttings
Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture will host a duel ribbon cutting for Power Clean Carpet Cleaning Service, owned by David Brown and Fresh Start Fellowship Church, Terry Brown, Pastor on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. Both ribbon cuttings will be held at 410 E. Broadway. The public is invited to attend.
Project Grad meeting
There will be a Project Graduation meeting today, Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in the Cuero High School Library. For more information contact Charla Jones at 275-8136. VFW meets Thursday The Cuero VFW will hold a meeting on Thursday, December 10. Dinner will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. Members are asked to please bring a side dish or dessert.

The Arneckeville Men's Breakfast Group will take a Christmas break during December and will resume its schedule Jan. 5 of meeting for breakfast at 6:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Arneckeville. All men of the community are invited to attend in 2010, the first and third Tuesday each month.

On the third Thursday of each month Cuero Pilot Club hosts the Cuero Country Opry at the VFW hall, Highway 183 North. The next performance is Thursday, Dec. 17. Dinner (catered by Werner’s of Shiner) is served at 5:30; the show follows at 7:00. Tickets are $10.00 and may be purchased in advance from any Pilot Club member, the Cuero Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture, Full-O-Pep Ranch & Garden Center, Prosperity Bank, Kleinecke Flower Shop or Reuss Pharmacy. Play set for Dec. 17 Take a waltz down memory lane. The new Musical Theatre class will present “A Circle of Four” written and co-directed by Sharon Ernster with musical direction by Heather Turk. The short play traces the friendship of four girls from 1969 through 1994. Tickets are available at the door. Adults $5, all students free. It will be at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, in the High School Cafetorium.

God’s Lil’ Princess December Dance Clinic will be held December 12th. The cost for the clinic will be $30. Ages 3 and 4 will meet from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Ages 5 and 6 will meet from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Their will also be a collection for the C.A.M.A.L. House. Nativity scene in Yoakum Experience a trip to Bethlehem by driving through the Live Nativity, to be held Sunday, Dec. 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Yoakum. Holy Cross is located on Highway 77A near the intersection of Hwy 77A and Hwy 111. You will enter the drive-through from Nelson Street and exit onto Hwy 77A. Pastors and church leaders are invited to join Cuero Area Ministerial Alliance which meets each Monday at Cuero Assembly of God at 8 a.m. for an interdenominational time of prayer and fellowship. Vietnam Vets memorial The Vietnam Vets are planning a monument to all DeWitt County Vietnam war veterans. The monument will consist of a mounted Huwe chopper, individual monuments for vets who died in Vietnam, and nine flags with night lighting. The vets are asking for donations to help with the purchase of the chopper and other materials to make their dream a reality. Donations for the project may be given to any Vietnam Vet member or dropped off at Citizens Bank in Yorktown. All donations are greatly appreciated and needed as soon as possible because they want to have the memorial installed by Memorial Day, 2010. Herman Lodge party Yorktown Sons of Herman Lodge will hold their annual Christmas party on December 9 at the Lodge hall. Festivities will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. Roast turkey will be provided and members are asked to bring a side dish. There will be a unisex gift exchange with value of $10. Recipients of long-term membership pins will be honored. Tamale orders Pre-sale tamales will be available for December 19 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall starting at 8:00 a.m. Tamales will be $8.00 per dozen. The theme is “Dreaming of a White Christmas.” Located at 312 Simpson Street, it is open Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1 to 4 and Fridays from 10 to 4. Ombudsmen visit nursing homes to promote quality care and to protect resident’s rights. Free initial and ongoing training is provided and no prior experience is required.
