Jr. High Lady Gobblers kick off second half of season with wins

The Junior High Lady Gobblers returned to action last week against the Yoakum Lady Bulldogs, after their holiday layoff, with the 7th graders getting off to a hot start, and the 8th graders still trying to get their momentum going.
The 7th grade B team won their contest in a close 14-12 contest, pushing their record to 3-2 with one tie. Scoring for Cuero included: Mariah Rodriguez 8, Savanna Diaz 2, Savannah Zaiontz 4.
The 7th grade A team took a very convincing win from the Lady Bulldogs 33-17 to keep their perfect record in tact at 6-0. Lady Gobbler scoring included: Chelsea Veit 3, Emma Adams 2, Jessica Odem 2, Missy Odem 12, Claire Laging 2, Madelynn Thamm 2, Justyce Turner 2, Jaslynn Mathis 8.
“Both teams came out last night and played really well,” said Coach Lindsey Maxey. “After being off for two weeks for the Christmas Holidays, I thought the girls prepared themselves very well. Everyday they are improving and working hard.”
The 8th grade B team tied their first contest of the season 12-12, pushing their record to 3-2-1. Scoring for Cuero included: Alyssa Gonzales 4, Shania Cessor 4, Josie Dominguez 2, Hannah Lucas 2.
Looking for their first win of the season, the 8th grade A team fell to Yoakum 14-46. Scoring for the Lady Gobblers included: Emery Johnson 4, D’Nesha Strait 4, Tiffani Shellenbarger 2, Andrea Miller 2, Rachel Hardin 2.
