(Posted 3/17/2010 08:39 am)
W.C. "Dubby" Cash passed away at home surrounded by family after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer. He was born on September 18, 1942, in Cuero, to the late Temple and Daisy Cash and was the youngest of four children. W.C. retired from DuPont after 25 years of service as a process operator. He had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, photography, shooting, riding motorcycles, drawing, gardening and gambling. He was a craftsman of many skills, including gun smithy, building fishing tackle, carpentry, mechanics, crafting hunting knives and a BS artist. He loved working with his hands. He was a member of the Victoria Gun Club and other area gun clubs where he participated in many shooting competitions, where he won numerous awards. He was a loving father and included his children and grandchildren in his hobbies. There’s nothing W.C. couldn't accomplish when he set his mind to it, nor did he ever meet a stranger. He was loved by all for his wit, humor and charm. W.C. was preceded in death by his parents, brother, T.C. Cash, and granddaughter, Austin Kay.
W.C. is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 48 years, Karen "Bobbi" Cash of Victoria; daughter, Dee Noack and husband, Kenny of Gonzales; sons, Clark Cash of Gonzales and Curtiss Cash and wife, Meredith of Victoria; sisters, Marjorie Peters of Waco and Barbara "Babs" Urban of Gonzales.
He was lovingly known to his grandchildren, Ashlee, Fischer, Evan, Hunter, Sterling, Haylee, Katie and great-grandson, Zane as "Hi Daddy."
The family would like to thank all of "Dubby's" friends for their concerns over the past year and give special thanks to long -time, devoted friends: Dennis Lawrence, Jim Blackburn, Tommy Barker, Mike Hessong, Dave Riley, & Robert Paxton. Also, a very special thanks to his favorite “outlaw”, Joyce Cash for all of her help throughout his battle.
The family will receive visitors 5-6 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010 at Heritage Funeral Home of Memory Gardens. A memorial service will follow at 6 p.m. with past co-worker and friend, Pastors Steve and Cheryl Taylor officiating. Family and friends are invited to share memories during the memorial service.
