Mamie Dell Koenning

Mamie Dell Koenning, 96, of Westhoff passed away on Friday, April 25, 2014.
She was born on November 23, 1917, in Ratcliffe to the late Rice and Janie Anna Slusser Maxey.
She will be remembered and missed by her son, Roy Allen Koenning, and his wife, Marilyn of Westhoff; grandchildren, Kevin Koenning of Westhoff, Karen Vickery and husband, Lonnie, of Victoria; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Vickery, Roy Shane Koenning, Bradley Koenning, Alisha White and husband, James.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Koenning is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Rudolph (Rudy) Koenning; five sisters; three brothers; great-granddaughter, Kandis Vickery; and daughter-in-law, Sherilyn Wurm Koenning.
Mamie Dell had a loving spirit and the warmth of hospitality. Her passions were her Sunday meals with the best homemade noodle soup. She loved baking, canning, quilting, needlework, flower gardening, especially roses, and spending time with her family and friends. Another talent of Mamie Dell's was caring for animals. She nursed the family's famous coon dog, George, back to health after he suffered from “Coon Dog Paralysis.” She was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society of Westhoff.
Although she will be missed by all, we are comforted by our belief that she has been reunited with her love, Rudy, and her family who have gone before her.
Visitation will be Monday, April 28, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at Freund Funeral Home. Services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Westhoff with Pastor William Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Westhoff Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Shane Koenning, James White, Lonnie Vickery, Bob Vincent, Darwin Koenning, and Mickey Rice Maxey.
Honorary pallbearers include Bradley Koenning, Otto Lee Koenning, and Gordan Flessner.
